Well after many years of type 1 diabetes, 23yrs to be exact I was ready to get a pump. What made me decide to get the pump? Well I'd just the yr before given birth to my daughter and had a horrible pregnancy which made my diabetes worse along with all the other health conditions diabetes tends to bring along and I decided I wanted to be here for my daughter PLUS I found out the Omni Pod was available where I live! One of my biggest irritations about a pump before was I did not want to feel like I was "hooked" to anything. With the Omni Pod I felt like it was more a part of me rather than me being attached to something all the time. I have used it for three months now and I love it, most the time, we all have our ups and downs with blood sugar control no matter what we do. While I was pregnant I managed to keep my hgbA1c at 6 or 7, afterwards I couldn't get it below 12! also many severe episodes of low blood sugar, even passing out twice and requiring a glucagon shot and scaring the bejeezus out of my family. Now with the pod I am struggling a bit with the low's but nothing like before and my first A1c after starting the pod was 8.9, that was almost a miracle in my book!
I could go on and on but I am just so happy they finally made a "wireless" pump. I know there has to be alot of other people like me out there and this pump is great for me but even more than that I think it was me finally being at a place in my life where I was comfortable enough to start a pump.

Alesha, you may want to join the Omnipod Group - I think it's a pretty active group here.
