FACTORS THAT AFFECT
TESTING ACCURACY

Bayer’s blood glucose meters and test strips deliver accurate results you can rely on, but what other factors affect the accuracy of your test results? Consider these factors when performing your next blood glucose test:

SKIN CLEANLINESS

Before pricking your skin, thoroughly wash your hands and the testing site with soap and water.

DAMAGED OR EXPIRED TEST STRIPS

Never use defective or expired test strips. Store your strips in a sealed container away from heat, moisture and humidity.

IMPROPER CODING

Some meters require coding for each package of test strips. Make sure the code on your meter matches the code on your test strip container. Bayer’s blood glucose meters feature No Coding technology, so there are fewer steps and no chance of inaccurate results due to miscoding.

TESTING SITE

Blood samples from sites other than your fingertips aren’t as accurate when your blood sugar level is rising or falling quickly. If you’re using an alternate test site and you think your reading is incorrect, test again with blood from your fingertip.

EXTREME TEMPERATURES

Your blood glucose meter and test strips should be kept at room temperature and out of direct sunlight.
