I have often wondered if I would be a good candidate for the pump but no one has ever explained it to me. They just keep shoving insulin my way... I wake up with numbers in the 150's most days, sometimes a little higher. I take shots of Levimir, 60 units in the morning and 60 units at bedtime. I also use the Novolog stick pen during the day, as needed. I have peripheral neuropathy in my feet that hurts like HELL. I take 800mg of Neurotin daily for the pain along with a Vitamin B complex and ALA. I'm on 1000mg of Metformin twice daily and 8mg of Amaryl in the AM. I take a couple other things but they are for other issues.
I can't seem to get my sugars any lower and my problem is that the syringe only holds 60 (technically 50 but i pull it down a little further) units of insulin. So should I take a third shot during midday or is this a good time to consider going on a pump? I feel like I am swimming in insulin and frankly, I'm not a fan of needles. I'm honestly not sure how I would handle taking ANOTHER shot each day.
Please advise...Swimming in Insulin, in Texas
