I have to go see the doctor regularly. If I don't...I don't get the meds I need to live. This has lead to other medical issues being caught early and taken care of.

The best thing for me is that I now pay attention to food and eating healthy, exercising and getting good sleep and taking better care of my body. I feel like I care for my body and have a lot more respect for how complex and amazing that it is. I also feel that I am a more organized and detail oriented person and a better problem solver. I feel like I am a bit more senstive to other people's pain and that I am more empathetic. I feel like I appreciate each day and am thankful for the simple pleasures in life and just value the whole idea of life and how precious it is. I definitely feel like diabetes has made me a stronger, more patient and more accepting person. I can take things as they come and feel like I can think through and analyse problems with more skill than before too. I am more accepting of the bumps in the road of life and more calm in a crisis, so I feel that diabetes has given me a lot of gifts that I would never have developed without it.

For me it solidified the love and commitmaent I had for my husband (borkenpole). We've been married 39 yrs,and theres no way either of us want to have to start over again with someone else. Now it does help that he takes good care of himmself and his diabetes and all I have to do is be around to rescue him from any lows. Fathers Day is going to be really special to me this yr that I still have him around. Love you baby!!!!!
