I had been saving this image for some in-depth, post-op blog about my kitties helping me heal.
But today we had to let sweet Driftey go at about 18 years old. She's the tiny black fluffy being who could sleep on my shoulder 2 days home from the hospital and bring about only comfort. No distress, even with severely compromised limbs! Chervil, at the foot of the bed, is "only" 15 years old.
I just love that these senior ladies figured out the scary, noisy hospital bed immediately, when so many others were scared away for a few days by my walker!
Bless you , Dear animal lover Judith ...Driftey will never be forgotten ; meeting up with many of our friends pets ...all the best , Judith !!

Comment by Teena on September 28, 2012 at 9:40pm Hugs dear Judith...What amazing and unconditional things our beloved pets can do. Driftey (love the name) will always be in your heart...will always be a treasure!

Comment by Judith on September 28, 2012 at 9:52pm Thank you, dear hearts. She literally drifted in the window/catdoor, settled in my reading chair and said. "here I am."......A neighbor that we hadn't gotten to know well yet, was in the hospital after a stroke. We knew he had a little black kitty and so we thought, "oh my, we better care for this sweetie until he gets home from the hospital!" And so we did. Noticing he was home, I went over to knock on his door and was greeted by his kitty---NOT Driftey. So a new furry friend was established as a member of the household!.....
Comment by Trudy on September 29, 2012 at 6:05am Hi Judith. Nice story about Driftey. Our neighbor's black kitten has been taking naps under our bird feeder...
Driftey sounds like a special pet, so sorry for your loss.

Comment by Linda G on September 29, 2012 at 6:23am You are in my heart dear sweet lady and kindred spirit to fur-riends ♥
So sorry to hear of Driftey....likely frolicking about with other puss-cats by the rainbow bridge. I'm certain that my Meeko was one of Driftey's greeters.
Comment by Kathy on September 29, 2012 at 7:02am Sigh - those two were keeping good watch over Mama.
My sister's 16 year old Welsh Terrier, Wishbone, died last week. She called me and I just sobbed. She called each of her grown boys and they sobbed also.
Pets have such a profound effect on our lives, your life was enriched for having him.

Comment by Linda G on September 29, 2012 at 7:12am So true Kathy....the love in grieving for a friend/family member be it a furry one or not transcends age....my grown children cried floods of tears along with me when we lost our Meeko....then shortly after, Taylor.
Comment by dzinermom1 on September 29, 2012 at 6:03pm So sorry for your loss. Our world would be a lonely place without our precious companions.

Comment by Gerri on September 30, 2012 at 12:22am They touch our lives in innumerable ways leaving their paw prints forever on our hearts. My condolences, Judith. Know the pain of a beloved furbug friend's passing. Hurts so.
Comment by catlover on September 30, 2012 at 9:19am Judith- So sorry for your loss. Driftey will have many of our pets to keep her company over the Rainbow Bridge. She was greatly loved by you and your other cat.
