My CGM is sitting on a Fedex truck somewhere in the USA making its way to my boyfriend's house. I have troub;e getting packages at my house so I am having them sent to his house as there is always someone home. I can't wait to get my Dexcom. I was hoping it would arrive on Monday where I was hoping today to bring it with my to my appt that I have with my DE.
Speaking of appts. I have an appt today, November 4th with my DE. I am going to push for the pump. I really need to get on it as MDI really isn't working! Even if they up the units or switch me to something else, I really want to go on the pump. I really need to get the numbers down and have a bit more freedom. I carb count and when I go out to a restaurant, I think I'm on target but when I look up the amount of carbs it really is, I am in shock! I stopped drinking a medium frappe from Mcdonalds as its 77 grams of carbs without the whipped cream alone. Restaurants that do not have the nutritional value on their site, I'll skip all together. I really want to push for these restaurants to put them on their site so we can make better choices while there. But yes, I want my pump!
Another thing that is bothering me right now is my CGM authorization is good until November 14th! Which I need to find out what the story is. Plus my insurance company has me listed as a type 2 and I've had this insurance for a year and they should know Im a type 1!!!!! Unless my dr put down on the authorization form type 2 which I'll be pissed that he doesnt know his patients very well. So I am waiting to hear back from my insurance company on what both means. I'll be bringing my letter to my appt today so I can get it corrected. And to have another authorization done. I know the CGM will be with me for a long time as it can help make better choices see where I am heading between fingersticks and to see what happens overnight. Well, I am very excited about the overnight information it will provide. I'll go to bed with a sugar level of lets say 245 then wake up to be at 367! And I dont get why. Or I'll go to bed with a level of 88 and wake up at 250. I get happy when I'm at a high number at bed time and then be low in the morning. So I'm all for that. But if I see the trends and I'm out to dinner with friends or out to lunch with my boyfriend I can say, well I'm heading high but when I do my fingerstick I can make a better decision. That way I can say well I want a salad for lunch or a soup or I'm running low and want a sandwich.
I really wished I knew about the CGM years ago otherwise I would be on it by now. I wished I pushed for the pump when I was first diagnosed and met with an Animas rep back in 2007 and went for it then. I really did. But today I am going to say I want my pump! I see my dr on the 22nd so I really want to push for it today. I have to. I do not want to see my numbers going up and down too much. Need that pump! This month is Diabetes awareness month and I am wanting my pump! I'll say it all day long if I have to. But I know what I want and I want it now.
