A respectable list.......There are also many herbal supplements that are worth considering. These I have been working with for many years: Nopal Powder, from the prickly pear cactus, an ancient Latin American treatment for "the sugars"...fenugreek and gymnema and apple cider vinegar (especially worth trying for the Dawn Phenomenon.

I also take great care with immune system support like astragalus and olive leaf. Milk Thistle for the liver. Evening Primrose Oil for my arthritic joints ( as well as using ginger and turmeric a lot). And I drink a liter a day of my own tea blend: Green decaf with kombucha, hawthorne for the heart, dandelion for liver and as a general tonic, chamomile and mint for digestion and general wellbeing.

Just like with any prescription drug---if you are allergic or intolerant of these things, there will be diarrhea and discomfort quite quickly. You just need to Listen to your body, as we all need to do always.....

Points well taken. Check tomorrow's post, I cover most of those herbal supplements and more.

Have you actually gotten results from apple cider vinegar? I tried it and got zero results.

Works for me......

Hmm... I use wine and cheese for DP (actually works better for me than Metformin) and... some nights I just don't feel like it. How do you take the Apple Cider Vinegar Judith? Thanks. Joanne :)

Oh yes, Peetie---that works for me, too, and is a lot more fun! I do the ACV after meals. I tried it with a couple drops of stevia and cinnamon, but finally decided to just hold my nose, metaphorically speaking, and chug it. Now I mix it with my nopal powder and water and down the hatch. I know some folks incorporate it into their salad dressings......

I have also come to love ground flax sprinkled on various things--nutty flavor and yummy. And I started on a probiotic years ago after 2 rounds of thrush due to antibiotics.

Peetie,
Wine and cheese helps with DP? Really? I have never heard of that one before. Is it the alcohol content of the wine that does it? Why cheese with it?

Long-time diabetes activist/blogger David Mendosa, for one, suggested these things years ago. But there is never a one size fits all answer for diabetics. If you want to treat diabetics by the book, you need to write a new book for every diabetic.
