WARNING DIABETICS - Doctors Aren't Always Right

I recently came across an article about Diabetes that almost floored me when I read it. It talked about recent studies showing the increased frequency of Type 1 Diabetics acquiring Type 2 Diabetes, as well as Type 2 Diabetics acquiring Type 1 Diabetes – they referred to this occurrence as Type 3 Diabetes, “double Diabetes” and “diabesity” (due to the link between obesity and Diabetes). The blame for these events has been placed... >> Read More

Amazing, but not surprising. Can you post a link to the full article?

It certainly is amazing that's for sure. As requested, here's the full article link: Doctors Cause Diabetics To D.I.E.

I was never told about what would happen if I took too much insulin. Luckily for me, I grew up with a grandmother who was on insulin most of her life and saw myself what could happen. Plus, you know, I read everything I can get my hands on. Thanks for sharing the whole article!

One needs to also sort out your insurance company's lurking, often inane and dangerous quidelines---including the ways in which so many of them automatically limit strips (especially for T2s) and push the high carb ADA food guidelines......

I can understand doctors neglecting to mention what happens when we take too much insulin (especially for newly diagnosed Diabetics). After all, it certainly wouldn't help with a patient's stress level. However, I can't see many doctors ignoring the fact that we need to follow specific meal plans - opposed to just having a "have now, react later" attitude towards what we eat. That's like Diabetes 101.

As for insurance companies, I definitely have to agree. That being said, inane insurance guidelines are not unique to the realm of health care - they are present in everything insurance-based. In any case, we rarely come out on top.
