Funny how the weather affects our bodies and health ... We go low in hot weather, high in colder weather and so on.
Tonight I swear I had an asthma attack from the weather. As I was on the train it started to thunder, and when I got off and walked to the bus loop just outside the station my lungs started to feel weird like they do right before I get symptoms. I could not understand why, I kept clearing my throat as my throat also felt odd, almost like I was about to have an allergic reaction to something.
Then I missed my bus stop and had to walk six blocks home in the raging thunderstorm. I took it slow as I didn't want to trigger any exercise-asthma issues. But by the time I got home I was definitely having breathing difficulties so took my inhaler, which has helped but my lungs still feel off.
I have never had asthma problems in association with weather before, but I googled it and apparently it's fairly common for thunderstorms to trigger asthma. Something about the changes in air pressure and other factors stir up and release pollen. Who knew!
We don't usually get many thunderstorms here, especially in the summer, but we've had two now in the past week. I love thunderstorms as long as I am inside and not walking home (without an umbrella, I might add!) and my feelings on loving them may change if they start becoming an asthma trigger for me!
