Not too long ago I switched my insulin delivery time from pm to am, after having severe crashes in the morning. It was just too scary waking up like that, and I find that when I deliver it in the morning, I can be more in control of the numbers. So usually I come to work, eat breakfast, then deliver...usually in a public bathroom or in the locker room.
Yesterday, I took delivery late, then got a dispatched call. When I got home, I went to refill my little bag with pen needles & it wasn't there. I assumed I left it in my patrol car.
So this morning when it was time for my delivery I looked in my bag & forgot I left it in the patrol car. I searched the car, and nothing. Then I remembered that yesterday I had been in a public bathroom before getting dispatched.
I drove back there hoping that if it wasn't there, someone at least turned it in, because I had a business card in there. I thought about what I would lose... One full Lantus pen, one partially full pen, alcohol wipes, about six pen needles, and the zippered case. I knew it was a bathroom without a lot of traffic, so I hoped that was in my favor.
My bag was still in the stall 22hrs later!! The bathroom had obviously been cleaned, but the bag was just left there. I wouldn't have lost a lot, but I am sure grateful that no one took it.
