Hi Tom. We will be in Boston only Friday and Saturday. We will meet a few Facebook friends Saturday evening.
My head injury was in mid Oct. The subdural hematoma was diagnosed on Nov, and the surgery was on Nov 3. I have recovered nicely, no problems. In the meantime I have bad knees, diagnosed in Dec. I will have both knees replaced later this year. They injected artificial cartilage and I am using pain pills. Nothing is going to stop me from the Boston trip.
Hi Tom. Our children were born over an eleven year span. The two oldest went to elementary school in the Bronx and were attending the High School at the time of the fire. Our youngest son went to Stephenson Elementary School. Those were good years for us -- we're still corresponding with friends we knew at that time. Our oldest, a daughter, has a great memory and might very well have known Lori Laffel.
Your message to me about the difficulty with your comment wall reminded me to go look at mine, and I found an old comment from you that I hadn't seen before! The word-limit on messages to people who aren't you "friend" on TuD is designed to protect people from getting spammy messages from people they don't know, or don't want to receive messages from. I know it's a little inconvenient at times, but I think it's a good protection.
I recall seeing your profile photo a few times but I didn't know that the lad with the bike helmet was also you. I also didn't know that you have had Diabetes that long or any of your background. WOW! That's fantastic. Congrats on your 50th AND 70th D Anniversaries.
i enjoyed hearing your stories on the video today. That's good that you kept your glass syringe. Years ago I had asked my Mom what happened to my glass syringes and she said she threw them out after I started using the BD disposibles in High School. I only have the container that the syringes and Insulin was kept in. My needles were not stored in alcohol as yours were.
You did a good job in answering the questions and thanks for showing us the Lilly medal too. Best Wishes through the short years until you reach your 75th D Anniversary.

Hi Tom. Thanks so much for the video that you and Richard gave us. Your description of early years in New Rochelle brought up some great memories for me. My husband and I and our three children lived in the Bronx, then New Rochelle, for approx. 15 years when he taught neurophysiology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Our children went to elementary through high school in New Rochelle. I remember seeing the NR High School burn, so much smoke in the sky; they did rebuild. We lived near the border of Mamaroneck, close to where Dr. Bernstein lived and practiced. I didn't have Diabetes, at that time I was diagnosed with Pernicious Anemia, which gave me complications similar to those that Diabetes gives. I've now had Diabetes for almost 20 years; I'm 82, my husband is 84, and our son born in the Bronx is an internist who treats PWD's. Well, thanks again! Trudy
