Greetings, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY Patricia.....
Best Wishes on your Special Day....and on the next 364 days!
How's it all going ♥ Do you have any questions or comments?
Patricia - just wanted to fill you in. I've been seeing Dr. Melfi in Morristown, NJ for the past few months and he is phenomenal (especially compared to my last endo!). If you're still looking, you may want to give him a try. It took me 3 months to get my first appointment, but he sure spends a lot of time downloading and analyzing data from the pump, and really helping out.
I wish I could figure out how to send a message privately -- I really don't want to publish names publicly on the internet so I'll use initials. Anyway, the pump rep. got back to me with a few names - one is a practice in Denville consisting of three women (Drs. S, M, and R), and another is a doctor in Wayne, Dr. L. Unfortunately the practice is not on my healthplan, and I tend to prefer a group over an individual so I haven't yet called the second. Why must this be so difficult?
(oh wow...sorry for the duplicate message before! I'm using a really slow computer which sometimes doesn't seem to respond. but enough about that).
Thanks for your reply. In my online search, I found an Endo in Wayne who might be good, but online searches are always hit-or-miss. I called Minimed, who put me through to a local rep who visits doctors and perhaps could help, but I missed a few calls (don't know if it was from the rep or not, no mesages left) so I need to try again. It's worth a shot! If I find someone, I'll let you know! And if there is someone you think I should stay away from and wouldn't mind messaging me (privately, of course), I'd appreciate that too. Good luck with your new doc!
I'm moving here from Long Island, but I grew up in New Jersey -- farther south in Middlesex County, to be exact. We're looking at a house off of Rt. 202 near the Boonton border.
Hi Patricia -- I just found you through a search on TuDiabetes (I've been inactive on here for way too long!). I'm in the process of moving to Montville, NJ (I see you live there!) and am looking for a good endocrinologist in the area. I'm a 36-year old Type 1 (had diabetes since age 7) and have used a Minimed pump since 2006. Any suggestions?
I'm really looking forward to the move, and am hoping our family's home purchase goes through easily. I love the town, and the people seem so friendly! My son loves the playground at the community park, too! Happy belated birthday, too. Hope you had a good one!

So sorry to hear that Patricia. I'm going through a bit of a rough spell...and looking for light at the end; something brighter than a 20 watt bulb!
Take care...linda.
Oh so true....here too, the children are spaced out at this time of the year....what with our preparations for Mother's Day Tea tomorrow (Friday)...a grand affair...high tea actually, with elaborate pastries, sandwiches, finger foods....the children's choir....poetry readings. Then for Father's Day in June, there's the famous breakfast, followed by canoeing...in the middle of all that, there's the long weekend of May 18th; our Victoria Day weekend. Then the dreaded report cards (ugh)...and parent teacher interviews. We end the school year with a year end picnic and BBQ...which has a climbing tower, henna painting, face painting, and the likes plus live entertainment. (Please note that all of the celebrations, teas etc. entail much MUCH prep work by the staff ( as I'm sure you're familiar with!!!) School's out on June 18th....the picnic is on the 19th....the big perk is the staff retreat....always at a top notch resort. I've taken a new position at the school....starting September, I'm the French teacher to grades 1,2 and 4. Grade 3, due to time constraints, is tought by another french teacher. I will also continue teaching part of the English components in the afternoon....Novel Study...a fav. of mine. Take care, and be well....linda.
Thanks Patricia!
I have been "practicing" with Omnipod for the past few days. A wireless device. About the size of an egg that sits on body.
I may do trial for 30-45 days if I don't like medtronic is my 2nd choice.
Cozmo offered breakdowns for bolus' I am spoiled. Apparently none of the other pumps do as much.
Your A1C is definiteluy a great goal for me. My lowest was last spring 7.0 now in high 7's
I was 10 when I found out in 73. A few years ago I had a series of visits with Dr's and discovered they really only want to know how long I have had diabetes so I decided my diabetic age is my new age. I wil be turning 36 this yr!
I have never heard of spa for Diabetics but there is an exercise conference in Boston this year. Thurs6/25 - Sun6/28
