Ahmad and I will be having a get together this Friday night at 6pm we would love if you could join us...
Pitchers Lounge10800 Metcalf Ave, (Overland Park Marriott Hotel), Overland Park, KS
This popular, inexpensive restaurant is a sports lover's heaven. Locals find it a great place to get together, have a drink, enjoy a meal and unwind. Located in the Overland Park Marriott, just 20 minutes from downtown, it is worth a short drive for the sporty atmosphere and good food.
Diners can choose from an array of menu items, including pizza, salads, burgers, ribs, steak sandwiches and grilled chicken sandwiches. For those with an appetite, Key Lime Pie, apple cobbler and sundaes top off the meal.
I enjoyed your comment and cartoon about fighting cravings so much! I like Steve's comment down below. There is definitely a carb-addiction, self-sabotaging thing that happens with us. I think part of it is not caring enough about ourselves, and being more concerned for others, or just denial which is the opposite of self-care in a way. =) Thanks for the laugh!
I look at diabetes from a more holistic approach. Medicine in America really does not have a grip on what is really going on.. for example if you use insulin for control, if you drink diet drinks you are more likely to go blind. I have shifted my entire life to activities that create joy, and don't adhere to the diabetic associations guideline which I feel ultimately benefit the corp sponsers and not the real people.
So I eat unrefined foods, lots of vegs and some fruit. Exercise in ways I enjoy and take a nutritional called juice plus. I have lost 65 lbs and feel great. I have gotten some holistic help with some therapists to better understand the underlying emotional cause for all of this. It is a journey, one does have to leave the old paradigm behind
thank you Bill! your photos are great! there's a nice group : "traveling the world with diabetes" where we can add our photos and add some stories about our travels around the planet or around our countries.
