First and foremost...congratulations on being included in the keynote speech that Manny delivered. Quite an honour indeed :) Those cortisone shots...a blessing and a curse! How's your bg now??? I sure hope you don't need a new stove....good gosh, those can run pretty costly! However...if you DO need a new one, pamper yourself. Get a smooth stove top....and there are now stoves with warming ovens. My grandmother had a warming segment in HER stove....but hers was a wood stove ;)
I decided to stay home today after all...nursing the headache...and eating frequently to try to maintain a near level bg!! Usually get up in the morning 1n the 115 to 120 range....but for the past couple of days my fasting in the morning has been 60, and shooting up to 150 or so half an hour later after a couple of bites of a peanut butter toast.
RCIC at church tonight....I better go....don't want to give the wrong impression.
Take care,
hugs....linda

Thanksgiving went well, but our other daughter and son-in-law didn't come over because they had a stomach virus. I had been replying to your messages on my email, then found later that its a do not reply place. Sorry to Marie, Catlover, and you that I have not been responding much. Meeting with Alex's teacher went well. Found out he got angry at school over some work he had trouble with. He got mad at the boys at his table for "talking" he said. The teacher said they said they were trying to help him. Alex got so mad he told them he wanted to kill them. Trip to the principal office and councelor talked to him. I did talk to the counselor also and once they heard all Alex has been through and we just got him out of foster care the end of Sept/Oct, she said he is still adjusting. His stuttering is really bad. He didn't say if the boys make fun of him. On work he can easily do, he is ok, but most the time he needs help on homework. He really needs an aid most the time, but there is only 1 in a classroom of 24 kids. Alex will not ask for help. His teacher is very understanding and nice. We had a good time together. The dr info we got on Alex says they suspect ADHD. At home when he is around us we never see any hyperactive behavior (our son had ADHD and Alex's mother is ADD). He needs help. We still have not been able to get him medicaid yet. His mother has to apply and shes been working a whole lot. When I tried to take her, she couldn't find her last pay stub. We can't afford to pay full price for drs and nuerologists for Alex. We are trying to get Mass. to at least send us some money like they pay foster parents which is what we are. We spent Sat. and Sun. working with Alex on a school project. The kids had to do tri fold project boards on a book they read. We helped him read "Bunnicula".He needed a whole lot of help on the project, but we were alowed to help him. The good news lately is they were able to stick Jon's fistula with both needles in his arm and not use the catheter yesterday (tues). If they can continue to use it, they will work up to larger and larger gauge needles and eventually be able to take out the catheter. Thats what he wants the most!
Reed- I just watched Manny's video. Your story was wonderfully told. You are a movie star. Be sure to watch the video. If you lose any more weight you will fade away. We had some snow yesterday, but it only stayed on the grass. Very chilly today, high of 42. Hope you BG is back to normal from the steroid shot. Jim is still working on his INR trying to bring it up past 2. Take care. CAT
Oh REED, have you seen the video? yes I know it's 38 minutes, but you're one of the STARS! I got a little choked up when Manny told your story. and so many others. what a fantastic speech.
hello Reed, nice day here, just a little snow here and there. I am very much looking forward to watching that video. I noticed it on the home page, left, under videos. today would have been my dad's birthday. The trainer for my new pump is coming at 3:30. I'm going to put a pork roast in the crock pot so I don't have to think about making dinner. bg 148. had to take more cough medicine last night. at least now it's a productive cough.
Hey dear Reed....good morning to you! It has been SO SO SO hectic here....and in the midst of it all, my bg has been acting weird....and have been getting headaches. So sick of it all...there's never a day when I feel well. The report card roughs are being reviewed, and hopefully MY comments for the subjects I teach will be fine. So far so good. The French Club was yesterday...and all went well. The theme was Ste Catherine's day....so had pulled taffy, and an activity. As well, the children voted on their new logo, from work submitted earlier in the year. Only 6 submissions this year vs the 17 of last year. It's a proper vote...behind a partition and all :)
We decided to celebrate my birthday on Sat. the 8th....when I will be less stressed. The report cards will have gone out by then...and the parent teacher interviews will be just over. There's a staff party to attend the night of the last interview day. I really don't know WHY my birthday was not on the list here! Today is one of my long days at school, and frankly...I'm thinking of not going in. It'll just make my headache worse. Sigh!! Your knees are better with the shots....how's your bg? The snow we had last Saturday is still on the ground. Not much of it grant you...BUT, still there!! So...people are in the mood, and lights are going up!! Looks lovely. Is that Chico up there? A beautiful cat....but bold as brass lol, fancy walking on the table!!
luv and baskets of hugs Reed....

Maybe it's just in need of a new heating element..Like I know,ha ! No need to fret though-Tom is going to make sure you have a stove in good working order for Reeds Diner :) I had a somewhat quiet day-so got to play on the computer and laugh at Doris.I still follow the Alaskan pioneer and when he first left to his Island.he took a dog named Wilson and a goat named Thor..well,you know that was a draw for me to follow..well some time passed and we all kept asking..where was Thor..and no direct answer...then in his video he post he said it..Gator he ate poor Thor !! He said he was brought as a food source and he and Wilson ate him-had a darn babque ..and ate poor Thor..seems he was a little dense but still :( No the Alaskan Pioneer has been fun to follow -good guy :) .
Reed just found out a lady from our meetup group has had the same symptoms as I have for 6 weeks. Over the weekend she turned ghastly pale and weak and had to be rushed to the ER. I think I've had a relapse. It's so hard to know whether to spend the day lying around and resting or to try to get up and do some light tasks. I don't know if I'm going to wait until Monday to see my PCP. We'll see how I feel tomorrow. Once good thing - I am sleeping like A LOG.
Hello Reed, Glad to hear you are well. Been really busy here. Just hoping things get better. So glad your knees are good. I have an appt tomorrow. We'll see what happens.
Take care <3 <3 Joanne *** sent you a message too
hi Reed, it's been snowing all day. it's very pretty actually. I stayed home and then they cancelled the guild. hope nobody actually went there today, it would be a lesson to check your emails always before going. I'm making some oatmeal bread, and later I'm going to make bean soup with a ham bone. bg 275 that was an hour ago, when I changed my infusion set and gave myself a giant bolus. Lady from Roche, actually a CDE, is coming over tomorrow afternoon to train me on mt new pump. yes whip the TOPS ladies into shape.
Evening Reed....thanks for the birthday wishes....I think I'm likely to be on tomorrow's list due to where my name is alphabetically. I'll send you a pm with my email address. I'm signing off, as I'm feeling pretty cruddy...coming down with something, but hope against all odds that I'll feel better tomorrow...as tomorrow is the French Club at school...and I need to be there....anyway...good night...hugs, linda
Thanks so much for the b'day wishes. I thought that rveryone around me (including my family) forgot. BUT ... leave it up to my TUd friends to share their wishes.
I've been doing OK. I just published another blog (about the Merry-G0-Round life) amd plan on following up on that in a few (weeks or days?) if I can motivate myself). One day last week I spent 3-4 hours on Part 2 and then blew it trying to get it back to the screen to tell it to publish! It's somewhere in cyber-space. Darn!!!
Good morning Reed. It's cyber Monday, when people buy the most things online. I have to buckle down and try to get some cleaning done. Things sort of went kapoot when I was sick. As Paul said, cold here. I need to go downtown this week but am waiting for it to warm
Our Hollidazzle Parade started this weekend. It is quite spectacular with lighted floats and such most from big corporations. They have warming aread where you pay $9 and watch it from the heated space and get a free c
up of cocoa. One year we took my mother and she talked about it for weeks.
Also a big ploy to get people to shop downtown rather than the malls. So much fuss.
I can't believe how many people online have this coughing bug - seems like it's spread across the country. I think I should get some hand sanitizer and carry it with me.
I hope you have a good week ahead and that your knees are better.
