Hi Reed, Yikes, it is cold here. Winter finally came to Virginia. I just got done walking and by the lake near the entrance to the apartments the wind is just plain brutal. I look a lot like Kathy now with the hood and everything. Maybe tomorrow it will snow and stay on the ground because it is so chilly. It is 19 right now.
It feels funny tomorrow is already Wednesday and it seems like the week just started. Friday will be here before I know it. How are you enjoying your new oven. Is it the same one or did you get one with some new bells and whistles? We are having chef's salad tonight. I am going to have to find something warm to wear tomorrow for work. I would have a fire but I am going to be going to bed so it won't do me any good. I hope everything is going okay at your house and that you all are healed from the colds and flu. How is Russ doing with the walker? Sleep well. Lots

Reed, if you see someone type 1 who is talking about stopping insulin, please alert the Care Team or me. We will try to help them. usually someone will comment to them anyway, we have a lot of caring ppl here who are not on the careteam too.

It's bitterly cold here too. just when I started to be off for the guild, it started snowing like mad. an inch on the driveway and almost blinding, but I was crazy and went anyway. I had to drive myself because we had a board meeting afterwards that went on forever. no time for lunch. luckily (not really) my bg was not budging from the 200 area so I didn't need to eat. finally came down about an hour ago. ed is terribly frustrated his computer seems to have gotten a bug - it all started when he updated firefox and something called "delta search" took over as his homepage. I looked it up and I think I found something to help him, but he gets mad if I don't fix stuff right away. gee whiz. I guess that happens when you've been a big Vice President of a company and used to having people react immediately when you give orders.

Yeah, that about sums it up. Brutal. No change in temp tomorrow, but it'd make a big difference if the wind went down. I am going to sleep on the couch tonight as it's too cold in the bedroom. Windchill warning in northern Mn tonight. I don't know exactly what that means, but it sure doesn't sound good.

Hi Reed- I hope you are sleeping better than the other night. We are expecting the temp to nosedive tonight into the teens. Not as bad as Kathy and Pauly, but cold for us here. We may even see snow by the end of the week. Did you watch any of the inauguration festivities today ? I watched some of it then got bored. Jim had his first really good INR # last week, it was a 2.4. He actually likes wearing the compression stockings. they give his leg support.Tomorrow is TOPS for you. Hope you have a good meeting. Hi Reed, we just got back from the doctors. no really BAD news, but nothing is better than 3 months ago for either of us. quite cold here, and tomoorow will be really cold. ed turned on the pellet stove, it warms up the floor in the kitchen and our bedroom. I slept ok, which is good, changed my set and made some corrections, so I was 107 before lunch. Today I'm remembering all the inauguration parades my parents took us to when we were kids, we went to every one, no matter who was president. I remember it always being sooooooo cold, but lots of fun, my mom especially like the marching bands, and how Pennsylvania Avenue was all festooned for the event. yikes cold in Minnesota for our friends.

oh I wanted to tell you about something we had the other night. I was looking for something to dress up the leftover pork roast, and I saw in The Joy of Cooking Homemade applesauce with a little horseradish in it. it was delicious! I peeled, cored, and quartered 3 apples and put them in a sauce pan with water up to halfway. cooked until completely soft, then mashed them and cooked for a few minutes with a squirt of lemon juice and spoonful of sugar and dash of salt. then added a heaping Tablespoon of mild horseradish. I'll be making this with pork more often. HUGS!!!!!!

Reed I did not even stick my nose out the door today, and an sleeping in sweatpants and sweatshirt and wool socks. I have a space heater but of course would never leave it running while I slept.
This morning when I got up and went into the living room, a lone lens from my missing glasses was lying on the floor? Say What? Obviously the pair got stepped on to free it, but where are the rest of the parts? The mystery deepens.
I got this wonderful chicken/apple sausage at the store. It is high in sodium, so I only have half, cut into piece in scrambled eggs. Delish.
Another INR tomorrow. It's just a big fat guessing game regarding how to change the dose. I think it must be too low because I haven't had any bruising.
Have yourself a good week.

Hi Reed, How are you? I guess that the doctor was right. She put me on some kind of new blood presure pill and said that it was going to slow down my heart rate and that I would feel fatigued and off for a couple weeks while my body adjusted. I woke up and this morning must have been the day because I felt fantastic. I was not tired or sick anymore and I am full of energy and happy. I took a walk tonight and went four times further than when I first started and I was so surprised I am not even tired. I am glad that the medicine worked.
It was a nice walk too. The moon was out, it was windy and crisp. I saw some Canadian geese and when I was done walking and sitting by the lake they came all the way across the lake just to see me.
Tomorrow I have the day off. I am going to dig everything out of my closet tomorrow and clean it. Now I am fitting into all my small clothes I am going to look for more stuff to wear. My pants are too big now, but I have a bunch of smaller ones in there somewhere. I was cleaning out my pie cabinet today and I found a cute collar from this little Jack Russell that lived with me as a foster dog for a while. It is so cute. It has pink roses and sparkels on it. It was a pretty small dog. I cut it smaller and now Zen is wearing it. She looks so adorable with it on. I gave her this tiny little cow stuffed animal. It is only a couple inches tall. She has taken to carrying it around like a baby. She takes it with her when she goes into another room, so cute. How is Chico?
I hope Russ is feeling better. I am glad he decided to use your extra walker. Tomorrow is MLK Day and the shindig for the President. Have you gone to see any movies lately? I saw "Les Miserables" and I really loved it. I think I cried about ten times during that one. It was so good.
It is supposed to get cold here next week, to the teens. Maybe we will get a chance to build a fire. There is 40% chance of snow on Wednesday, so maybe I will see snow after all. I think that would be great. Have a nice night.

hi Reed, blowing winds and cold here too. I might make some bread today. tested at 4 AM 81, almost ate something, glad I didn't because I was a perfect 110 by breakfast. The speakers yesterday were great. Tom is 80 and has had type 1 for 70 years! He is an avid bicyclist. He showed us his Joslin 50 year medal. In 5 years, he will qualify for the 75 year medal. In 5 years. I can apply for the 50 year one. Maybe we can get ours at the same time. You have to travel to Boston to get them.
