Hi Reed - a heat wave here today. I did not even have to wear my hat at the bus stop. Did a lot of shopping at Target and had intended to stop at the clinic on the way home, but my packages were cumbersome so I thought "heck, it can wait a day". At 6 pm the phone rings and it's a nurse asking why I didn't come in and I lied and said I just got back from out of town. She was really mean and of course I will go tomorrow.
We may have moderate snow tomorrow with very cold temps on Thur and Friday so maybe I'll be housebound again for a couple days.
Glad you got some good sleep.
It's time for Antiques Roadshow!

hi Reed, not having such a good day here, I am trying to get this raffle quilt organized, we are having a work session tomorrow, and I am making so many mistakes it's pathetic. probably due to NOT doing enough sewing lately. the gals will straightrn m out tomorrow. we got some snow and ice this morning, hope it all goes away by tomorrow.

looks like we have a lot of Daniels. I looked through this list, but I didn't see him
http://www.tudiabetes.org/profiles/members/?q=daniel
he was the one who did the woodworking and the guitars, lived out west somewhere. see if you can, the last Daniel who left us was in 2009.

everything that is left in mom's old place is going to the thrift shop. I won't have to go down again. our nexrt trip will probably be when my uncle dies (mom's brother). He's in hospice care at home, and it doesn't look like he will last but a couple of months at most. great guy.

Hi Reed. I did not go out today but had a fabulous day, full of energy, yesterday. Really felt like my old self. And if I have one, I can certainly have another.
Put my head down about 1 pm to take a nap, woke up just now and thought it was Monday afternoon! Came over to the computer and checked the date and sort of settled in.
Today I discovered that I have two bottles of coumadin, one for 2.5mg tabs and one for 5 mg tabs, and I don't know which one I've been using. No bruises so I don't think I'm getting too much, and I'm supposed to go for an INR tomorrow, but I think I'll call the clinic as soon as they open, 'fess up and ask them what to do. It never occurred to me to look at the dosage per tab and to be honest, I don't know why I even did.
A valuable lesson for the future. I am on so many meds now, but they each have a purpose, and for that I'm thankful.
Glad you guys are feeling better and I hope it continues through the week.

Hi Reed my new twin Grandies are here at last. They were born on Thursday and are very tiny, just over 4lb each. They are in the Special care baby unit so haven't been able to see them yet but hopefully they will get well soon and I will be able to hold them both. They are called Summer Isobel and Georgie Grace. Isobel after my Grandmother and Georgie after my father George. The weather here has been atrocious with heavy snow making us housebounnd :( but thankfully after torrential rain the snow cleared and life has returned to normal..ish. I am over in England for the next couple of weeks to care for my daughter in law and the twins but will have to wait patiently until they are allowed home. Still in pain from the fall and can't turn my head lol but getting better fast. Hope all is good with you Reed. Tricia xx

Hi Mr Gator, Heavy snow in Minneapolis currently.

Glad you are better. We have a massive outbreak of stomach flu now and it is highly contiguous. You know the kind where your stomach gets so upset you cant even keep water down. Wash your hands !

BG 77 on wakeup. Glad you had a great Mass.

Hi Reed, I am glad you are feeling better today. I am having a hard time getting started today myself, an upset stomach and a headache. I am waiting my turn to get into the bathroom and I have my fingers crossed that I will feel great after a long hot bath with some bubbles.
It is so pretty today. The snow is still on the ground and the sky is super blue. If I don't feel so queasy this afternoon we will head out to the store for a while. I have a coupon from my favorite shoe store for $10. I don't need shoes but they have purses and scarves and other pretty things there and I need to pick up a present for one of my friends. Today is a little bit warmer, up to 34.
Yesterday I had an experience. I decided to brighten things up a little and decided I would get some highlights put in my hair and get it styled. My normal salon had no openings so I decided to treat myself and go to a really fancy one. When I got there I felt okay and they gave me a couple cups of really delicious tea. The stylist put my highlights in and I was sitting there with that tin foil in my hair when she told me that I better do my roots as well because she could see some grey. I wasn't planning on that but I said okay. From then on I felt like I was being tortured. She put on this super stinky strong hair dye and it started to burn my scalp. The she put me under this steam machine and that made the chemicals start hurting my eyes and I started to cry. I think when I was in there I started to go low. On to the washing bowl and the neutralizer and she was scrubbing and pulling my hair like crazy. My purse was way over by the haircut chair and my lips were numb. I knew that I ate right and took my insulin right so I thought I would be okay. By the time I got my hair cut and blown dry I couldn't see and I hardly made it the checkout desk and out the door to the car where I finally drank some juice. Chris drove me home and even 15 minutes later I was still 64. I thought it was kind of funny because I felt like I had been through the war, but after the juice kicked in I started to feel better. I finally felt good enough to go take a look at what she had done to my hair and it looked pretty awesome. It is golden, carmel and chocolate brown and she cut it nicely, so I guess it was worth the ordeal. Lately I don't feel much like eating, and I keep losing weight. My insulin is going lower and lower, and with the exercise I am always getting painful lows. I am sure that things will even out eventually and I only have ten pounds left before I am as thin as I want to be. It seems like things are bad, with the lows I get headaches and bad stomach aches but I think it is all for the good and once I get my insulin dose figured out I think that I will be fine. Anyway, my hair looks cool.
Zen is such a sweet thing. She is so tiny, warm and soft. She is always right next to me when I feel sick and she is so cuddly. I miss Suri and always think about her, but I am so happy with this little cat. She is so much fun!
I said a prayer that you will have a good week in Reedsville! Ellen

Hello Reed. Hope you are feeling better & had a good week. My week was busy. The sick people at work were not as bad this week. So far I have managed to stay healthy. Was to the Dr this week for a check up & all was well. Got a pneumonia vaccine so hopefully I do stay healthy. It's been very cold here. Tonight down to single digit temps. Brrrr !!!! I am COLD all the time. Sweatshirts and blankets, lol. Was supposed to visit Brian & family but they are sick with bad colds. So we'll try next weekend. Kevin & Jen are in LI this weekend. Got the key for their new home. Had washer/ dryer & Samantha's new Bedroom furniture delivered. Will be living in a town called Greenlawn. Pete is well. Pittsburgh is even colder than here. last week they were at zero with -20 with the wind. I miss them all so much.Joe still working but sad as every month lets more people go. He is lucky to be one of the last. Been working on his resume. Daytimers sponsoring a job fair for all the employees in Feb. Hope Tom & Russ are well. Please stay well. Think of you when I'm freezing up here. Take care <3 <3 Joanne

Reed...I cannot stay warm! I'm wearing 2 thick wool sweaters, jeans, thermal socks and slippers...the thermostat is set at 72 and though I'm sitting at the computer with a carpet under my feet...I'm STILL cold.
Me...the girl who spent her teen years in northern Ontario...the girl who skied, in colder weather than this! Maybe if I had a bit more fat...I don't know. It's 22 F out there....but feels WAY colder! Here's a pic that will buckle your knees. Honestly, I think these folks froze a few of their brain cells!!
So...yes...it appears that Tom is rather enjoying his involvement with the Church...priesthood??? If Russ went out to watch Tom run, he must be feeling well. As for you young man....I hope you feel better soon. Len wants us to go out later for groceries. Not I...not when the sun has gone down and it's a bone eating cold. I'll starve first. Oh how I long for spring!! Report cards pretty much done (and ahead of due date!!). PTL!! Next will be the French Club to get ready for...and those fun parent teacher interviews!! Sending you something below that pretty much depicts ME at the moment.
Hope you're not coming down with anything and that you have a better sleep tonight.
baskets of hugs....linda

hello Reed, sorry to hear about your night. I actually was awake at 3 too, and for some reason I was thinking you might be up doing some welcomes. I did not want to get out of bed though, as we turn the heat way down at night, and it's COLD. I was just out delivering that quilts of valor material I cut, and the temp was between 23 and 24. I think it's supposed to be warmer tomorrow. I was 121 before breakfast and 165 before lunch. the lake is frozen solid, the ice fishermen were out, but the one inch of snow we got is covering up the holes they drilled. sometimes they shovel the lake to go ice skating over there.

HI Reed- I haven't been on very much the past few days. I had a little accident on Wed. I fell against a door frame in my house and think I cracked a rib. I know there is nothing you can do for injured ribs so I didn't go to the doctor. It is quite painful and I am taking Aleve for the pain. I actually have a doc appt this Tues so I will go with yet another complaint. Jim has been quite helpful doing things around the house and taking care of the cats. It has been freezing all week, the temp is supposed to rise on Sunday. We also had some snow- only about 1".
Hope you are doing well and the weather is warm. Going to lay down. Cat

Hi Mr Gator, Last night I went to a Catholic Mens group meeting. Had adoration, a talk by the Priest, and confession. It was great. They have them on Friday nights and it is well atended. They have them at different parishes.

What the hell is going on?

I wokeup at 11PM and thought it was 5AM and I needed to get ready for dialysis. Did manage to get back to sleep for a little while. When seem to have this physic connection when it comes to sleeping all night.

My birthday was great. You probably could get a peice of cake from Alex but you had better hurry. My BG was 120 when I went to bed and 102 this morning so I must have calculated well with the insulin to take care of the cake and ice cream.

I think with a lot of people is all of this runs in spurts. Respond for a while and then go without doing it for a while. But if they don't answer don't write. Sometimes after a couple of days they will send you a message asking if you are okay. If they don't...then scratch them off your message list. Just my humble opinion.

Getting ready to head out the door for D. New chairs and they are so uncomforatble. I miss my other chair.

Oh well, that is life.

Have a good one my friend.

Sparky

Reed, I've got both good news and bad news. I found my glasses. But they went through a full cycle in the washing machine!! They must have fallen into the laundry basket, which I just dumped into the machine. They are somewhat bent but I think if I take my time I can get them reshaped to wear.
Today my computer said 20 degrees so I decided to take out some trash. It felt absolutely brutal. Must have been the wind. There was a lot of ice by the dumpster.
Tonight for supper I had roasted potatos, carrots and onions topped with a poached egg. I love poached eggs. So comforting. Tomorrow I'm going to make a batch of corn muffins to freeze. They reheat very nicely and taste great with this low sodium tomato soup I make.
Hope you are all doing well and have a great weekend.

Hi Reed, Happy Friday, TGIF. I had fun today. My boss came by this morning and we had a nice talk. Then one of my friends from another site that I haven't seen for a while came to visit around four, and my boss came back and we had fun chatting. I had a nice client and after I helped her get her medicine she went out to her car and brought me back these two huge avacados. They are as big as melons. I never saw anything like them before. She said to let them get soft and I am looking forward to trying one out. I gave one of them to my friend because she is really into cooking. She went home all excited about making something interesting out of it this weekend.
We had what I guess would be called a snowstorm. Work was closed yesterday. Today it started to snow again in the afternoon and it is still coming down. It is sloppy and wet. I bet it will be slippery tomorrow because it is supposed to be cold. We bought some wood for a fire tonight. Well, time for dinner. We are having fish.
Those gloves of Kathy's are really cool. Take it easy and enjoy your weekend. Lots.
