Oh mercy, Reed, they are talking on the news about the tornadoes down south. Looks just terrible. We are having a wind chill advisory for the next couple of days. I have not tried to reassemble my glasses as it has to be on a day when I can concentrate and won't feel frustrated. My main computer started working this morning. Must have needed a rest.
I made this delicious cucumber salad to go with my chicken tonight - fat free sour cream, dill, chives and parsley. Madeit this morning so the flavors could blend - yummy.
aYes the Target that I go to has a grocery section. Not much for produce, but good deals on frozen stuff.
Hi Reed, How are you? We are having hot weather too, kind of crazy to have temperatures in the 70s here in January. I wonder what summer will be like? In Iraq it is getting so hot, way up to 127. I do believe in the global warming, I mean it is kind of obvious. I read something pretty bad about the BP oil spill. I guess all that oil will give off methane gas and that is way worse than carbon dioxide for the atmosphere. I hope we can get it together and start taking care of the planet. If we would just stop spending so much on wars we would have enough for the deficit, the infrastructure and some better health care. This government is getting awful. I heard that we are going to have both a gas tax and energy tax plus taxes on food. Enough already. I went to the stomach doctor today. They scheduled me for an endoscopy, colonoscopy and a stomach and liver ultrasound. She gave me Nexium and some good Probiotics. It was so late that by the time I drove to work it would be time to come home so I am home now. Today is very dark and grey. It looks like we might be in for some rain. I hope it holds off until after I take a walk and I don't want to go until after dinner. I am glad that you had a good time at TOPs today. How is Russ? I am having a great time with this new laptop. I like this Windows 8. Chris said that it has a touch screen and he is going to set it up for me. This screen is so huge compared to the other one. I feel like I am at the movie theatre. Pretty soon they will probably invent hologram computers. Things are This screen is so huge compare to my other one. I feel bad about your friend who got her purse stolen. I think that anyone who disrespects or hurts someone elderly should be put in jail forever. I cannot tolerate that or anyone hurting animals, or children. What are they thinking? I hope she is okay and they catch the guy. Take care. Your weather is really hot. Do you have to have the air conditioner on? Lots.
Hi Reed- I hope your TOPS meeting went well today. My ribs are feeling better, I am just keeping up with the pain pills and heat. We are having a "heat wave " today- going up to 60. But just for the day. I hope you and Russ are feeling OK. Chico really likes you and your house, cats can tell where they are liked. Hope you have a good day. Cat
hi Reed, sorry I was gone all day yesterday. we had to get started on the 2014 quilt at the guild. I'm really sorry I volunteered to head this up. I have my close friends there to lean on. we got almost all the cutting done with 4 of us working all day. we are going to be short of a few fabrics, so the gal living closest to the shop where we got it will go back today. Ed is doing ok, it's plenty warm here today, so we will take a nice walk. We pay over $1000/year for our homeowners, and we don't have a big house or live in an area prone to any disasters. didn't sleep well at all, woke up at 3 (bg 124) then 5 (bg 187) took a bolus but it didnt do much, heart pounding until 7 when I took another one. feeling nauseous and itchy and achey. bg was 168 before breakfast.
Hi Reed. I was so concerned when I read about Pauly's sister, as I had to go for my INR today. At noon it was up to 34 so I waited a couple hours more and everything had melted so it wasn't too bad. Then tonight on the news they were showing people falling as they were going to work and the county hospital had their ER overflowing with people who had broken something. Tomorrowit will start to ge3t cold so Im planning to stay in. My main computer is dead. I was talking to Apple support about another problem so the guy said to shut it off and then afterwards I could not turn it back on. I'm going to give it a rest and then try tomorrow. So I'm using an old laptop that still works.
Hope TOPS goes well tomorrow.
Hi Mr Gator, We are having freezing rain and I am not going out today. My sister just fell on ice and broke her wrist. I am cautious about falls, I use ICe Spikes when it gets like this but where i live they dont sand real good so I am homebound today.
Went too Bible study last night and had a good session
Hi Reed, Wow, it sounds like you are having a heat wave. I would be out in the sun if I were you working on my tan. Here it rained and all the snow already disappeared. That is probably the extent of our winter. I never did get a walk in the snow either because we did our hair on Saturday and shopped on Sunday afternoon. I was bad. I stopped at Wal-Mart for cat treats and toothpaste and ended up buying a laptop. Mine old one worked fine but I dropped it so many times it looked beat up and I lost all the fancy silver hinges so it was not looking pretty anymore. They were having a sale and I got an HP for a good price. It is so big compared to my other one. I feel like I am driving a Cadillac. The keyboard is nice, easier to type on with bigger keys. I like this, it is pretty, blue. I am glad you are feeling better. I was blah all day Saturday after that low at the hair place. Now I feel pretty good. I took a long walk after work and it is warm, didn't even need a hat or gloves. It is time for supper now. We are having salmon and veggies and it smells great. I am hungry. I was busy today and forgot to eat lunch. Have a nice night. I hope it doesn't get too windy for you. Maybe you should fly a kite. I haven't done that it a long time. It would be fun to do on the beach.
Hi Reed - a heat wave here today. I did not even have to wear my hat at the bus stop. Did a lot of shopping at Target and had intended to stop at the clinic on the way home, but my packages were cumbersome so I thought "heck, it can wait a day". At 6 pm the phone rings and it's a nurse asking why I didn't come in and I lied and said I just got back from out of town. She was really mean and of course I will go tomorrow. We may have moderate snow tomorrow with very cold temps on Thur and Friday so maybe I'll be housebound again for a couple days. Glad you got some good sleep.
It's time for Antiques Roadshow!
hi Reed, not having such a good day here, I am trying to get this raffle quilt organized, we are having a work session tomorrow, and I am making so many mistakes it's pathetic. probably due to NOT doing enough sewing lately. the gals will straightrn m out tomorrow. we got some snow and ice this morning, hope it all goes away by tomorrow.
looks like we have a lot of Daniels. I looked through this list, but I didn't see him http://www.tudiabetes.org/profiles/members/?q=daniel he was the one who did the woodworking and the guitars, lived out west somewhere. see if you can, the last Daniel who left us was in 2009.
everything that is left in mom's old place is going to the thrift shop. I won't have to go down again. our nexrt trip will probably be when my uncle dies (mom's brother). He's in hospice care at home, and it doesn't look like he will last but a couple of months at most. great guy.
Hi Reed hope you are feeling better after all the bugs came to visit!! and thanks for your kind words re the twins. They are improving slowly so hopefully I'll be able to visit them soon. Mum is fine thanks and so is Nick although I left him to fend for himself back home in Ireland. He will be over here in a couple of weeks as couldn't leave the business for too long. No need to message. I will let you know whwen I get home and keep in touch from then. Bye for now Tricia xx
Hi Reed. I did not go out today but had a fabulous day, full of energy, yesterday. Really felt like my old self. And if I have one, I can certainly have another. Put my head down about 1 pm to take a nap, woke up just now and thought it was Monday afternoon! Came over to the computer and checked the date and sort of settled in. Today I discovered that I have two bottles of coumadin, one for 2.5mg tabs and one for 5 mg tabs, and I don't know which one I've been using. No bruises so I don't think I'm getting too much, and I'm supposed to go for an INR tomorrow, but I think I'll call the clinic as soon as they open, 'fess up and ask them what to do. It never occurred to me to look at the dosage per tab and to be honest, I don't know why I even did.
A valuable lesson for the future. I am on so many meds now, but they each have a purpose, and for that I'm thankful.
Glad you guys are feeling better and I hope it continues through the week.
Hi Reed my new twin Grandies are here at last. They were born on Thursday and are very tiny, just over 4lb each. They are in the Special care baby unit so haven't been able to see them yet but hopefully they will get well soon and I will be able to hold them both. They are called Summer Isobel and Georgie Grace. Isobel after my Grandmother and Georgie after my father George. The weather here has been atrocious with heavy snow making us housebounnd :( but thankfully after torrential rain the snow cleared and life has returned to normal..ish. I am over in England for the next couple of weeks to care for my daughter in law and the twins but will have to wait patiently until they are allowed home. Still in pain from the fall and can't turn my head lol but getting better fast. Hope all is good with you Reed. Tricia xx
Glad you are better. We have a massive outbreak of stomach flu now and it is highly contiguous. You know the kind where your stomach gets so upset you cant even keep water down. Wash your hands !
Hi Reed, I am glad you are feeling better today. I am having a hard time getting started today myself, an upset stomach and a headache. I am waiting my turn to get into the bathroom and I have my fingers crossed that I will feel great after a long hot bath with some bubbles. It is so pretty today. The snow is still on the ground and the sky is super blue. If I don't feel so queasy this afternoon we will head out to the store for a while. I have a coupon from my favorite shoe store for $10. I don't need shoes but they have purses and scarves and other pretty things there and I need to pick up a present for one of my friends. Today is a little bit warmer, up to 34. Yesterday I had an experience. I decided to brighten things up a little and decided I would get some highlights put in my hair and get it styled. My normal salon had no openings so I decided to treat myself and go to a really fancy one. When I got there I felt okay and they gave me a couple cups of really delicious tea. The stylist put my highlights in and I was sitting there with that tin foil in my hair when she told me that I better do my roots as well because she could see some grey. I wasn't planning on that but I said okay. From then on I felt like I was being tortured. She put on this super stinky strong hair dye and it started to burn my scalp. The she put me under this steam machine and that made the chemicals start hurting my eyes and I started to cry. I think when I was in there I started to go low. On to the washing bowl and the neutralizer and she was scrubbing and pulling my hair like crazy. My purse was way over by the haircut chair and my lips were numb. I knew that I ate right and took my insulin right so I thought I would be okay. By the time I got my hair cut and blown dry I couldn't see and I hardly made it the checkout desk and out the door to the car where I finally drank some juice. Chris drove me home and even 15 minutes later I was still 64. I thought it was kind of funny because I felt like I had been through the war, but after the juice kicked in I started to feel better. I finally felt good enough to go take a look at what she had done to my hair and it looked pretty awesome. It is golden, carmel and chocolate brown and she cut it nicely, so I guess it was worth the ordeal. Lately I don't feel much like eating, and I keep losing weight. My insulin is going lower and lower, and with the exercise I am always getting painful lows. I am sure that things will even out eventually and I only have ten pounds left before I am as thin as I want to be. It seems like things are bad, with the lows I get headaches and bad stomach aches but I think it is all for the good and once I get my insulin dose figured out I think that I will be fine. Anyway, my hair looks cool. Zen is such a sweet thing. She is so tiny, warm and soft. She is always right next to me when I feel sick and she is so cuddly. I miss Suri and always think about her, but I am so happy with this little cat. She is so much fun! I said a prayer that you will have a good week in Reedsville! Ellen
Hello Reed. Hope you are feeling better & had a good week. My week was busy. The sick people at work were not as bad this week. So far I have managed to stay healthy. Was to the Dr this week for a check up & all was well. Got a pneumonia vaccine so hopefully I do stay healthy. It's been very cold here. Tonight down to single digit temps. Brrrr !!!! Got the key for their new home. Had washer/ dryer & Samantha's new Bedroom furniture delivered. Will be living in a town called Greenlawn. Pete is well. Pittsburgh is even colder than here. last week they were at zero with -20 with the wind. I miss them all so much.Joe still working but sad as every month lets more people go. He is lucky to be one of the last. Been working on his resume. Daytimers sponsoring a job fair for all the employees in Feb. Hope Tom & Russ are well. Please stay well.
