Hi Reed. 7 degrees here, no wind, so it's not too bad. There is a big cross country ski festival at the lake a block away. Neighborhood all clogged up with cars, and people. I am invited to a superbowl party tomorrow night at my neighbor's across the street, but there will be way too many food temptations - chicken wings, various dips, sweets. I haven't decided whether to go or not. I suppose I could bring some raw veggies or such. I even find that chicken is expensive, although you can save money by buying a whole one and cutting it up yourself. My favorite fish is tilapia, which is't exactly cheap either. And I think of all those years growing up when my dad would come home with a stringer full of walleyes and we'd have filets for supper. Delicious
hi Reed, quite cold here, we went for a walk anyway all bundled up. Ed is doubling down now on his job hunt. Just applied for a director of sales in Syracuse NY (3 hours from here).
the swordfish has not only been overfished, but it's rather high in mercury, so it is maybe better not to eat so much (I love it too). cod is better.
gee, thanks a bunch for the prayers. not only for our situation, but dear Uncle Taylor.
Hi MR Gator, No I am waiting for Home Depot to come and delivery my refrigerator now. I cleaned out the hold one and celebrated alot of birthdays with expiration dates. Didnt find a dead mouse like last time when I moved the refrigerator.
I didn't clean my old one. Why should I. Will probably go to mass in the morning. One nice thing is its so cold I can put my frozen stuff out on the ledge and not worry about it.
hi Reed, not such a good night, more to worry about. today it is cold, I'm making bread. bg 102, a Reed-like number, lol, before lunch, very low cal taco salad made with turkey taco meat, yum. Funeral is next Saturday.
Oh my goodness, Reed, it's -11 here now. Horrible. I tried to fix my glasses last night and it was a miserable failure. I knew I'd be frustrated so was all hopped up at bedtime and it took awhile to calm down. Phooey. Have yourself a good weekend!
Hi Mr Gator, more cold this morning, -15 below 0 here but next week it will be better and this should be the coldest day of the year.
Have to clean my refrigerator out for tomorrows delivery. My oven went out too and I will be buying a new stove next week. Its time to replace both of them.
I budget money just for replacement of this stuff each month so when the moment comes it is not a big deal, well sorta as you like to keep the money but then you cant have everything
Trouble with your new mouse Reed...thought I send you a pic of this grass roots version!! Man...the weather has been so unpredictable here....from what I see it's up and down at your end too! Yesterday, we had rain, wind, fog and around 55F...snow pretty much gone. Today...a whole different story...20F...cold and blowing dry snow. I keep hoping for a snow day!! Costs of insurance is insane! I discovered too that come retirement...there is no dental coverage!! So will have to look for private coverage...another premium to pay!
What the heck is THAT all about?!! Geez...if there was ever a time when you DO need coverage, it's THEN, when your income is lesser. Sigh!!
My report cards are done and were handed in over a week before due date.
I feel....FREE!!
I just hope than there wont be any changes to be made after they get proofread. Soon enough will be parent teacher interviews...and at end of February, prepping for the French club at school. Yesterday I was on the computer after I came back from co-teaching a RCIC class at church (Right of Christian Initiation for Children)...almost to midnight, here at to for a bit...then looking for teaching material related to Groundhog Day....in French! Found some!! Gotta love the internet!! Gotta love my printer! I print one copy....and use it as my master to print the rest at school. There's a lice infestation at school....I'm keeping my distance from any kid scratching their heads. I went to pick Mason up early from school...not feeling well...poor little peanut, burning up with fever and feeling SO miserable! So he's not going to school tomorrow, that's for sure! We're getting Stephen for the weekend. He's 2 1/2 now!! He's a little sweetie! Looking forward to it. Speaking of hair appointment...I'm due! A trim and some highlights. The lady down the street from us does a superb job, out of her house, at a fraction of going prices. Well...tomorrow Friday!! I've been able to get a lot done at school, as all the grades 3, 4 and 5 are away for their 3 day Winter camp. Got lessons planned ahead, copies made, sorted out material and cleaned up supplies in my classroom!! In all my 11 years at the school, I have NEVER EVER found myself short of things to do!! So, have a great evening Reed...and an even better day tomorrow!
luv and baskets of hugs....linda
One puny degree here with -30 windchill. I did go to the store and was severely bundled up so it wasn't too bad except my glasses kept fogging up so I couldn't see where the ice was. They have a coffee area so I lingered there quite awhile before heading home. So thankful to have warm clothes and shelter. Seems like you guys are always getting haircuts. I guess that's to continue your reputation of looking dapper. Now I'm looking below and see that Pauly got his hair cut yesterday. Must be something in the air. I'm gonna go and turn my space heater on high and see who's on Dr. Phil.
hello Reed, we got plenty of rain last night here, it's in the 40s, so it washed away most of the snow. last night my aunt called and said my uncle passed away, he was under hospice care, and in bad shape, blind, bedridden, so it is a blessing. I called my mother this morning to tell her. of course, we are going to the funeral. their church is in Washington DC, right behind the Library of Congress. please say an extra prayer for us, really Reed, we need it.
Oh mercy, Reed, they are talking on the news about the tornadoes down south. Looks just terrible. We are having a wind chill advisory for the next couple of days. I have not tried to reassemble my glasses as it has to be on a day when I can concentrate and won't feel frustrated. My main computer started working this morning. Must have needed a rest.
I made this delicious cucumber salad to go with my chicken tonight - fat free sour cream, dill, chives and parsley. Madeit this morning so the flavors could blend - yummy.
aYes the Target that I go to has a grocery section. Not much for produce, but good deals on frozen stuff.
Hi Reed, How are you? We are having hot weather too, kind of crazy to have temperatures in the 70s here in January. I wonder what summer will be like? In Iraq it is getting so hot, way up to 127. I do believe in the global warming, I mean it is kind of obvious. I read something pretty bad about the BP oil spill. I guess all that oil will give off methane gas and that is way worse than carbon dioxide for the atmosphere. I hope we can get it together and start taking care of the planet. If we would just stop spending so much on wars we would have enough for the deficit, the infrastructure and some better health care. This government is getting awful. I heard that we are going to have both a gas tax and energy tax plus taxes on food. Enough already. I went to the stomach doctor today. They scheduled me for an endoscopy, colonoscopy and a stomach and liver ultrasound. She gave me Nexium and some good Probiotics. It was so late that by the time I drove to work it would be time to come home so I am home now. Today is very dark and grey. It looks like we might be in for some rain. I hope it holds off until after I take a walk and I don't want to go until after dinner. I am glad that you had a good time at TOPs today. How is Russ? I am having a great time with this new laptop. I like this Windows 8. Chris said that it has a touch screen and he is going to set it up for me. This screen is so huge compared to the other one. I feel like I am at the movie theatre. Pretty soon they will probably invent hologram computers. Things are This screen is so huge compare to my other one. I feel bad about your friend who got her purse stolen. I think that anyone who disrespects or hurts someone elderly should be put in jail forever. I cannot tolerate that or anyone hurting animals, or children. What are they thinking? I hope she is okay and they catch the guy. Take care. Your weather is really hot. Do you have to have the air conditioner on? Lots.
Hi Reed- I hope your TOPS meeting went well today. My ribs are feeling better, I am just keeping up with the pain pills and heat. We are having a "heat wave " today- going up to 60. But just for the day. I hope you and Russ are feeling OK. Chico really likes you and your house, cats can tell where they are liked. Hope you have a good day. Cat
hi Reed, sorry I was gone all day yesterday. we had to get started on the 2014 quilt at the guild. I'm really sorry I volunteered to head this up. I have my close friends there to lean on. we got almost all the cutting done with 4 of us working all day. we are going to be short of a few fabrics, so the gal living closest to the shop where we got it will go back today. Ed is doing ok, it's plenty warm here today, so we will take a nice walk. We pay over $1000/year for our homeowners, and we don't have a big house or live in an area prone to any disasters. didn't sleep well at all, woke up at 3 (bg 124) then 5 (bg 187) took a bolus but it didnt do much, heart pounding until 7 when I took another one. feeling nauseous and itchy and achey. bg was 168 before breakfast.

Hi Mr Gator, Bitter Cold this morning with wind chill warnings of 35 below 0 so I am staying indoors.
I got a hair cut yesterday and bought a new refrigerator. Mine is making noises and it is 25 years old, to old to repair.
Glad you had a nice tops meeting. Sorry about the woman who was robbed. Stay safe. Kathy says alot of tornados.
Pauly
Thanks for the warm welcome Seagator! I look forward to finding my way around and meeting some new people!

Hello Reed, warming up now with big rain coming - better than blizzard though. Everyone has colds today but it mild. NO complaints from me! Take care!
