My dad is a very stubborn 89 year old. I would love him to stay with me but I work full time and its very hard to take care of him too...I suggested assisted living or a caregiver, but he refuses both. He thinks that he can take care of himself and by watching him these last 2 months, I don't believe that he can..
Oh my picture is Sarah standing at the edge of the Atlantic Ocean in Miami Beach. She is on Color Guard at NIU as was blessed to be at the Orange Bowl in January!
Thank you for the welcome! I am no stranger to Type 1. My older brother got it when he was 18 months old and my older sister when she was 21. My sister, after 34 years with Type 1, received a Pancreas transplant at the University of Minnesota.
When my youngest daughter, Sarah, (aka Boo) was diagnosed she was 2. She is the baby of the family, I have three other children. Sarah is now a sophomore in college and coming up on her 17 year anniversary. Would I take it away from her? In a heartbeat.
She controls her disease. Has it been easy? NO! But I have always treated her as my child with Diabetes, instead of a Diabetic Child.
I will post more of our ups and downs
Hi Reed. Hope your eye is better. We are having a mini blizzard. I just had to get out so walked very careful to the store. Fortunately the snow was the right texture to provide a bit of traction. I stayed there and read a couple of magazines, got some groceries and now m home for the day. I don't think they know how many more inches we will get, but keep saying tomorrow might be worse. My recent order from the mailorder pharmacy did not come, so I'll have to call and get a couple of meds locally again. I hope the weather permits me to pick them up tomorrow.
I lite more votives for you and the babies before mass again this morning. I prayed to the blessed mother to care for those babies who need help so badly.
Had to help the mens group with the dnuts this morning after mass. Weather heavy snow now. BG on wake up 115. Pauly
Hey Reed....how are you today? The eye getting gradually better? Be sure to wear sunglasses as to not aggravate it. Sun glasses...I wear those every season. When I get a bad migraine, I even wear then in the evening in the car (as a passenger lol)...head lights and tail lights...street lights etc...all too bright! How are Russ and Tom...and that sassy little Chico? I think Chico is good company!! He's pretty much YOUR cat anyway!! Did I read that correctly....a request for 12 THOUSAND dollars as a pledge?? Are you kidding me? Holy Moly...that's a wealthy parish!! No...I don't blame you one bit....I too would be looking at a lesser donation (MUCH less in my case!!)
It's a VERY lovely day here today....very crisp....but bright blue sky!
The groundhog predicted an early Spring. Hope he's right. He'd better be...I know where he lives!!
luv and hugs....linda
HI Reed- So sorry about your eye. At least you got an answer, and it can be treated topically. My rib still hurts, but it is getting better. Today is a beautiful sunny day. We only got about 3-4" of snow. Just enough to look pretty. Boston really got walloped with 25". Be glad you are in FL where it rarely goes below 60. Take care of your eye (that's funny about the eye drops.) Cat
Reed!!! Too funny!! So great that you have Tom there....what a fine nephew he is....a life saver! It's a sunny bright blue day here, with loads of sparkling snow!! A skier's dream! Len's out there with the snow blower....some are on their roofs unloading feet of snow! Ours is a metal roof....just slides off. More costly that the traditional roof....but life warranty and well worth it.
I walked to the hairdresser yesterday...she's in the neighbourhood, so not a long walk, but since the snow was SO deep yesterday and some had not cleared their sidewalk....I had quite the workout! They had announced it as 4 inches of snow!!! NOT!! Try 10 inches at least...12 inches where it was piled by the wind. It is piled in mounds atop our fence, with little hollows where the squirrels land as they make their way around the yards (we call it the highway!!). I always leave them and the rabbits nummies. You should see them though....with their Winter coat, they're the size of cats!
Well....I'm enjoying a coffee...and off to greet new members, and sprinkle some birthday cheer!! Take care dear Reed...and be still when Tom squeezes those eye drops in....none of that squirming ;)
luv and baskets of hugs....linda
Gator Gator Gator, how many times have I told you to get in the first punch ! Now how does the other guys eye look ? hahaha :) No,So glad you got right on that and went to the doctor.Hope you feel much much better friend :)
Reed, how on earth did your cornea get scratched in the first place? I hope Chico didn't take a p playful swipe at your face. So glad you got to the doc and don't have to suffer through the weekend. The drops should work quickly. Very nice here today - no hat needed. I walked a bit and the fresh air felt good. Now I'm going to work on Valentines. Have a good weekend.
Yikes Reed....I'm glad you had your eye checked!!! You're right...it would NOT have gotten better on its own...only worse! Facing the weekend at that! Always something, isn't it!! I'm home today (snow day) so it's an AWESOME TGIF!!! Winds were up to 20 mph earlier...still windy but not quite as bad as it was at 6am. 4 inches of snow this morning....and has not stopped snowing. Going to the hair dresser for 2 pm...she lives around the block...so it's walking distance! No need for the car...thank goodness because the streets are pretty bad. Especially ours, as we live on a crescent!
Hi Reed just a short update on baby Summer and to thank everyone for the lovely messages and more importantly all the prayers being offered up for her.
Summer is still critical but stable at present she was 13 days old yesterday. The doctors say it is a good sign that she's been stable and no worse for a couple of days now. Thanks again everyone for your prayers at this time xx
Hi Mr Gator, I prayed for the babies and I will add Lots of Shots to my prayer list too. Alot of health challenges on Mr Gators page recently for sure. We are going to get a little bit of the storm on Sunday night but not as bad as New England. It has been a hard winter for them in the NE.
Going to coffee with the retired gang this morning. BG was 96 on wakeup.
Hi Reed, I am glad you like my page. I had a lot of fun putting it up and I really like the colors, something a little different. I had the CAT scan yesterday. When I left home before I got to the car I got sick and had to go back inside until I was done, change my clothes and everything and then I was late. They had a hard time putting in the needle and it ended up in my right hand. When I got home it was blown up like a balloon. No bruises though. I had to get contrast dye. Afteward I felt sick all day like acid was in my body. It burned, but not too bad. I was really not feeling well today, couldn't eat anything, but I took all my pills and shots. BG stinks, over 300 all day with nothing to eat, probably just stress, and BP way high as well. I got the results already this afternoon. They said I have a large mass in my liver and that it was a tumor of some kind. I go for blood tests on Saturday to rule out cancer. It is mild here and the sun was trying to peak out. I had enough energy today to clean the whole bathroom and to change the cat litter. I am getting ready to go to bed. I am tired. I want to go to work tomorrow. I hope I feel well when I get up so that I can go. I am sorry about Russ and his legs. What is going on with your eye? Is it swollen? I hope it is not something serious. Did you see a doctor about it yet? Thanks for writing. Lots
Hi Reed- We will be getting the fringes of a Nor'esterner on Friday night. New England will get the brunt of the storm. They could get 2' of snow. I will certainly say a special prayer for Tricia's g-children to recover. My BG #'s have been pretty good lately. Got up with a 101 this morning. Glad that you and Russ are feeling good. Keep it that way. Regards to Chico ! Cat
Thanks for the welcome Segator!!! There is so much to say, to read, to investigate, to share, to live!!! Today is just my first day here, but I'm here to stay and help!!!
