Hi Michael. Thanks for the comment! I think you're right about exercise preventing further retinal damage (as well as tight control and good food). Good for you staying with it. I kind of slacked off after I damaged my cervical spinal chord, lost bunch of my former balance and coordination a few years ago. I still walk, but can't go fast enough for it to be very aerobic :( But I'm still eating great food that we grow organically right here, and my last A1C was 6.4. Last exam (Sept.) my eyes had pretty much stabilized. One is like looking through a binocular - no peripheral at all. Other has a bit of peripheral left and better overall vision, Happy to have any!! Good to hear from you.
Thank you for the info! - Encouraging that your good eye is not threatening anymore. 6.0 is a great A1C.
I was awful in college too - for most of my early D decades, really. Weird how only when I finally achieved tight control via pump, my eyes started downhill. One "bad" thing I still do is drink beer (Stout! Yum!) evenings. And my exercise isn't very aerobic anymore (walking) because my balance and coordination are, well, shot - since a cervical spinal injury a few years back. Sigh. On it goes.I get my good eye's peripheral vision zapped Mar. 9th... I hope that will be it for the duration.
Hi Michael. You say in your profile you still have one good eye. I'd be interested in your story of the what I assume is retinopathy. I'm in the midst of PDR these days (D for 43 yrs) and wondering if it will ever stabilize.Has your good retina stopped sprouting capillaries?
