Lisa- What kind of wrist surgery do you need ? How long has your wrist been bothering you ? Maybe you can avoid the surgery ? Let me know what your plans are. Regards to the kitties. Cat

HI Lisa- Happy New Year !!! Don't think I wrote you this year. How is 2013 treating you so far ? Things are calm here. My BG have been stable, just a few ups and downs. Jim saw a surgeon last week, and he said- "No surgery was necessary to remove the blood clot." It will just redissolve into his body. But he wants Jim to wear compression stockings for 6 months, and then come back. Have you tried using the CGM again ? Actually, if you are interested, there is a chat on the TuD homepage this afternoon at 4 PM given by a DR. who is an expert on CGM. How are the kitties ? Mine just spend their time searching for the sun on the floor. Gotta go take care of my wash. Take care and have a nice weekend. It will be 60 on Sunday. Cat (Susan)

Lisa- Hope you had a pleasant Christmas. I thought you loved the DEX !! I just don't like things tethered to my body 24/7. I guess I am not as particular about having my BG stay the same all of the time. I also do not test 10x a day and don't want to. ( Also my Ins. company cut my test strips back to 100/ mo.) I will have to speak to my PCP when I need more. Jim can't take PLavix instead of coumadin, it doesn't work the same. I used to work with a woman who took- Coumadin, Plavix and Aspirin and still had mini- strokes frequently. His INR came up to 2.0 which isn't too bad. He is seeing a surgeon next week to look at his blood clot which is still clogging a vein. Then we will decide what to do. Never a dull moment with health when you are up there in age. Take care of yourself and have a healthy 2013.Cat

HI Lisa- Just wanted to wish you and Sam and the kitties a very Merry Christmas. We are OK. Jim is still trying to regulate his coumadin level. My BG are up and down. What's new with you ? Cat

Hi Lisa- We ended up eating T-giving dinner at some new friends we recently met. I must admit I tasted everything except the stuffing, but my BG was back to normal by Friday. Jim is now also on Lovenox, an injectable anticoag. He finished 3 days of 2x a day. He gets his blood tested again on Monday. He is still taking the coumadin too. He didn't enjoy the shots too much. I certainly hope this works. I never heard of the syndrome you mention that you have. What is it from ? These past few days look like winter is coming soon. It is supposed to snow on Tuesday. I hope you are feeling better soon. Take care. Cat

Hi Lisa- Remember me ? We have had an awful time lately. Between the superstorm Sandy when we lost our power for 6 days and Jim developed a blood clot in his leg and spent 6 days in the hosp. This was right before the storm. He is currently on coumadin trying to regulate the coumadin. The kitties sat by the registers during the storm and for the week we had no power or heat waiting for the heat to go on. I slept with 5 blankets most of the nights. We used candles for light. Fortunately, my insulin remained OK. Did you have any problems with Sandy ? Let me hear from you. Have a good Thanksgiving. Take care. Cat

It definitely feels like Fall is here. Already Oct. !!! I am ready for cooler temps. What's on your agenda for the Fall ? Any new classes ? Hope to hear from you soon. Cat

HI Lisa- We I am back from CA. We got back last Thursday nite. The kitties were fine. They acted a little standoffish at first, but when Jim shook the treat bag, they meowed and said Hooray ! We had a nice trip. It was great to see Jack (g-son). Check out the new pics on my page of him and his parents. No problem w/the TSA. Of course, I don't have a pump to get grief from them. The weather in CA was quite cool most of the time. The day we left I needed a jacket. The flights were smooth, but long. Hope you are doing well. How has your summer been going ? Don't be a stranger !!! Cat

Hi Lisa- Just about packed for the trip. Got our boarding passes. My BG are settling down, I changed my I:C ratio and I think that helped. No more 300 or 400's. Hope I don't get a hassle from the TSA. I will be back on July 19. Kitties said they will miss us, but they will try and be good for the neighbor. Take care of yourself. Cat

HI Lisa- Happy 4th !!! Hope you are doing well. My BG are still up and down, from the cellulitis,I think. We are going to CA next Wed.( July 11) to visit our kids, especially our g-son. I can't stand this heat we are having, it is supposed to continue thru the weekend. The cats sit by the AC vent they don't want the sun these days. We have our neighbor coming in to take care of them while we are away. I am sure they won't be happy staying in the nice cool basement for a week. Hope your cats are OK. Any news from your end ? Cat

HI Lisa- Well I am home recovering from the cellulitis. I am taking oral antibiotics which I finish tomorrow. I am still feeling yucky and my BG are still high. Last night my BG was 423, but after taking a lot of insulin, it was 110 this morning. I hope it comes back to normal after I finish the antibiotics. I just stay inside during this ghastly heat spell. If you click on blogs at the top of your page, you will be able to read my blogs that I wrote about my hospital stay. I hope you are doing well. Stay in touch. Cat

Lisa- I did send you my email address, did you get it ? You can also send me a PM ( private message) on the box at the top of your page on the right. I am going to another chair yoga class shortly. The Philly meet up will be at Love Park in CC. It is at 16th and JFK Blvd., I think. The Homepage has the info in the event section. You can sign up if you think you can come.Hope you are feeling good. I had stomach problems over the weekend. We ate at a vegetarian rest. and I ha lentil and tabbouleh salad which was too much fiber for me. Take Care

Hi Lisa- I tried a chair yoga class yesterday at a local hosp. I really liked it. The class is just 1/2 hr. Did you ever do yoga in a chair ? The stretching felt good, i think I will go as regularly as I can. BTW, there is going to be a TuD Meet-up on Sunday June 10 from 10 to 12 (noon) in Philly. Manny and Emily will be in for the ADA conference that runs a week, so they are trying to get some Philly area folks together. There will be more info on the HomePage shortly. I hope you can come, I am planning to be there as are about 7-8 others so far. The exact location hasn't been decided, but will be in CC Philly. How have you been otherwise ? How are the kitties ? Hope to hear from you. Cat

Lisa- The "Big" program is actually called LSVTglobal.com. You might want to check it out. It was devised by someone to help Parkinson patients to have better mobility. I found out about it at my PD support group. Like I said in my other post (below) the PT came to my house for the program. I am walking better. Of course, I still take my meds from the neuro. Glad you are feeling better. Did you see the webcast yesterday ? There was a Pharmacist on and he was very good. I think they will have him on again. I think there is a video of the webcast on the "video" part of the Homepage. Check it out. Have a great weekend. Cat

Hi Lisa- How are you doing ? All recovered from the cat scratch fever ? I am OK all around. My BG #'s aren't too bad and my PD has stopped progressing for now. I finished the "Big" exercise program. I think I told you about that. It geared to PD people and is for 4 weeks 4days a week, special exercises by a specially trained PT. She came to my house for the program. Now I have to do it everyday. Just the other day, Jim & I went to a Senior Health and Fitness Expo sponsored by a local Hosp.I participated in a short chair yoga demonstration, it was fun and I could do it without any problems. They have a class at the hosp, and I think I will sign up for the class. It is just 1x a week for 1/2 hr. Have you ever done it ? Jim & I decided to go to CA to visit our daughter and her family, especially our g-son. We haven't seen him since last July. We will go in July for about a week. Our cat sitter has been told the dates. She is the first one we speak to before making reservations. How are your kitties ? Has RoseBud done anything else bad ? I hope not !! Hope you have a nice weekend. Cat

Lisa- So sorry you were ill. Cat scratch fever, WOW !! I never heard of anyone getting it. How did they treat you ? Bad Rosie !!! I did overeat a bit the last 2 nights at the Seders, but I will get back on track today. Were you left with any side effects from the illness ? Hope you have a Happy Easter today. I am sure you will not eat too much. Take care. Cat

HI Lisa- How are you doing ? I am OK and trying to keep my BG in line. Last night Jim and I went to a Passover Seder and am going to another 1 tonight. I have to watch what I eat 'cause there is usually too much food. How are your kitties doing? Mine are enjoying the sunny weather and sit by the screen door.
I want to wish you a Happy Easter and hope you are enjoying the spring weather too. Cat =^..^=
