Saw the eye doctor yesterday pressure in both eyes HIGH he was not concerned as I had cortisone shots in knees that pushyed me to BG 424 now 180. He could not be too concerned as he said see me in 6 months. I hope you are well and happoer. HUGS,Reed

I know you are a fighter and that's one of the many reasons I like you, but still I wish I could wave a wand and make your financial woes go away. I'd say I'll share my lottery winnings with you, except for that little detail about my not having spare cash to spend on the tickets! But if some miracle does drop a load of cash on my head, I'll certainly be in touch with you and several others - at least once I recover from the concussion of having all that money land on my head!
Well, it's really busy in this tax office now and being "functionally blind" as I was told yesterday, makes it sorta hard to read all the tiny numbers on my tax program and those programs just assume you wouldn't be doing tax stuff if you couldn't see so they don't let you augment the fonts one bit. I have the monitor on my desk in front of my face, but that means the keyboard is underneath it and hard to access. I got some contacts yesterday which help with distance but I can't read anything up close with them on so if I can't find some magnifying specs for that today, I'll have to leave the contacts for after tax too.
Anyway, nuff kvetching, I'll try to follow your lead and Fight my way through this next morass of medical mismanagement. See you in May!

Robyn,it was so good to hear from you. Sorry about all your ups and downs. I hope you win the court case. You should be on disability. I got the flu shot but I got a cold and cough that lasted weeks. Just had comjunctivitis in my left ete still using antibiotic drops. Crazy weather. Days in the 80's and then nights inthe 20's. Spring bushes all confused they are in full bloom now. Hey Gorgeous.... long time no type! I think about you all the time and hope you're still in recovery mode from whatever challenge you've been thrown at since last we co-commented. I wish I could stay caught up with everyone I know here all the time but it seems to get busier rather than quieter as I get older. This whole retirement thing should be easy but even my 3 months-a-year job keeps me pretty frantic for all that time and more. Now that we have our latest acquisition - a leetle house in da countree, furnished, I do expect the work load to dissipate THIS summer but I've said that before and been very wrong.
Also, hopefully before the tax season gets too far gone, I had hoped to acquire some of the visual acumen I've been missing for almost a decade. Although I got my eyes checked every year and sometimes twice or more, the optometrist kept insisting my tired, dry, worsening eyesight and the eye-straining headaches were due to fluctuating blood sugars and she prescribed over a dozen new pairs of glasses for me in that one decade.

Well, my friends at the local diabetes support clinic finally recommended someone who actually knows stuff and I'm told I have extremely 'ripe' cataracts. My dad has his out in his 50's (something I've been telling optometrist #1 for years) so I'm not surprised by the problem - but really pissed at her for missing such an obvious diagnosis!

So Robbyn, tell me this: How does one stare straight up at a blinding light and SEE sharp tools coming at one and not run out of the room screaming!?? I suspect there might be some leather straps involved and maybe a couple of those 900 pound nurses they call in for procedures like this and the occasional colonoscopy.
I can't stand looking eye-to-eye with anyone - not up close anyway - not even my hubby! I feel like he can see right through my lens and directly into my brain where he can read all those nasty thoughts I'm having about him and everything else! The window to my soul has the blinds drawn 24/7.
I keep hearing other people tell me how 'easy' the surgery is and how successful these guys are at peeling off cataracts, and implanting new lens. I try to keep my 'eyes on the prize' which I hope is better vision, but the route there is really cluttered with a lot of old baggage mixed with new technologies and old im-patients.
At this point, my appt with the surgeon is Mar. 5 - probably the second busiest week of the year for me because the employers have to get their income reporting slips to everyone in Canada by Feb. 28. The last week of April is generally the worst for being busy and also very tired by then.

I'm on a cancellation list but if they don't call this week - i.e tomorrow, I'm stuck with that Mar. 5th for seeing a medic about slitting my eyeballs. If he takes me as an emergency (which is how I got the appt in 2 months instead of 6,) and knowing my close relationship with Murphy's Laws, I'll probably have the procedure booked for the last week of April. I cannot do this stuff now. It's too late for me to benefit from it in time to help me through the morass of numbers in tiny fonts of tax software with a monitor at the end of my nose. I am thinking I should probably put the whole eye thing out of my head for now and re book for May. The optometrist said that's when the snowbirds get back with their 'ripe' cataracts too, but I just don't think I should gamble on everything going right when it could cost me my job, or worse, if it doesn't. Nobody does this work if I'm not here. It just keeps on piling up and the April 30th deadline keeps on coming.
But, as usual, I digress... What I really want to know is how you can stand it - looking at a doctor looking at you through those baby blue windows to your soul?
