"I am working with a CDE, and want to tweak my insulin before going back to mostly raw"<--- Its always good to have input from others to see how they are coping with their particular diabetic struggle. (in its entirity; the whole who, when, where, how, and why). Be interesting to know how your bglucose control works with your Certified Diabetic Educator. Its all in the numbers, as far as we are concerned. We took a version of the raw path. Others take a path/version of the Robert Bernstein method and get in the 5% club. The way it worked with us, is my partner was arguing some points when they had the mandatory meeting with the CDE at the hospital. We personally knew a nurse (before they moved) and talked to her,) who was vegan before the CDE came.
" It was intense, lost 20 lbs. in about a month. Have since gained it back"<---Since we are LADA*, low glycemic index was for blood sugar control , and weight loss was a side effect of it being vegan. Weight loss helps with the complications** , but its a welcome secondary priority. The main goal was the A1C, and getting in (or at the very least, near) the 5% club. *feel connected to both worlds: have the same antibodies and insulin resistance of T2 diabetics but also insulin dependent autoimmune disease T1. **explained in post "Relentless-a-matic added a discussion to the group Raw Food Diabetics One Year on Raw Food, started the day out of hospital".
"Have not been able to maintain it 100%"<-- :) . That is fine. Even the woman who made/filmed "Supercharge Me! 30 Days Raw" went on and off raw after her thirty days Well, thanks for your response, and its good to hear about your efforts. We kind of think of it as a fight: daily, minute by minute fight but ultimately as a journey down a type of highway trying to get from one point to another. If we get off the highway, its about getting back on path. Plus, we have a cheat; another person to make the food so we stay on track. As I suspect you know, its a crazy non-diabetic world out there. G. Cousens often calls it a culture of death. (one of the ways we like how he express our general culture that the other doctors and authors stay away from (but hey, it seems true to us.) Raw: nice, and preferred but low glycemic index was the must. Vegan was also a must. Listened to Gabriel Cousens at the same time as Neil Bernard. Mr peachy, a T2 tudiabetes diabetic also clued us onto Joel Furhman. G. Cousens' book can stand up to any of the other diabetic books we have read.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHAYA!! Best Wishes NOW....and for the rest of the year! (You haven't been on in a while...I hope everything is OK) Have a GREAT "ME" DAY :)

Hello! How Do You Do, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you Chaya... Best Wishes NOW....and for the whole year!
How's it all going? Do you have any questions or comments?
Eat any raw food or better cooked choices (like Neal D. Barnard, M.D) this late December? How did you do on sugar in your diet (Big No-No ala Gabriel Cousens, M.D)? I know it can not be the easiest, we heard the quote "but its Christmas (Yeah, and a good blood sugar reading is what we want, we thought)". We got a juicer, might have to put it to use. Dehydrator, your fortunate, we have made nut burger without drying it out.
We don't have "open hours" per se (not really set up for that) but I'd love to get a chance to meet you. Perhaps we can grab a coffee after the new year?
