Hello! I went on line tonight and talked to a few very helpful folks and started to keep a log and count carbs. I was directed to several helpful sites and called my meter Co. Accu-Chek and they are sending me a cable to keep my log on line and make comments on how I feel, etc. Great site you folks run. I hope to be on every day checking out what new friends are up to and getting more advice. This is too tough to do alone. I tried.
Hello, Stemwinder. Thank you for the info about the InsuLinx group, (albeit right after I requested help from someone else.)
I do feel compelled to say that if administration gets in the way of progress, the administration is probably not structured properly. I would think that there should be back-up systems (administrators, in this case) for all groups in case of illness, travel, computer problems, power outages, etc. I happen to be in need of some rapid information that I have not been able to find online, generically, but I do appreciate your letting me know that I may not be able to participate in this group in time to make a difference.
Hello! Thank you for having me as a friend Stemwinder! Tennessee....so far away, but it feels like you're right here! That's one of the appealing factors of tu.diabetes, don't you think? I'm in Canada (as you know)...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario...a city named Kitchener-Waterloo. I'm a wife of 33 years (hubby is also diabetic), mom to two grown children (one 28, the other 26), a grandma to 3 lovable little boys (one more wee bunny on the way, due in June), a teacher, and before that an illustrator (still do some) and graphic designer....I speak French fluently, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I'm an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things). What's YOUR story?
Keep in touch, ok?
linda
It's not what you think. Like I said the story is on Tu some where. Marie and others weren't afraid to ask. My wife's name is smokinbeaver. That one usually scares people a little more.
That's funny Gary...most people are more curious about the brokenpolescreen name. Oh and some where on Tu that one is explained. Sparky comes from my last name...Sparks. Been called that all my life. I guess it was fitting that I was an electronics technician in the navy although radioman might have fit better.
Congrats on being a Featured member and Welcome to the Care Team. I,too, have Type 2 and have lived to the ripe old age of 85 and still going strong. Reed
