I have a small neoprene pouch that loops on to my water bottle belt. I carry my meter, finger lance, tissue and test strips in it. I fold the test strips in a piece of foil so that just one edge is exposed. While I am running, I remove the meter and insert the test strip. I walk for less then a minute. to check my BG. I check it twice during a half marathon. I hope this helps. Practice makes perfect.
Bryan, I was not able to access your comment to me. I would like to share my doing athletic events with diabetes with you. I learned some things the hard way; hypoglycemia the day after the event. Somethings were learned through trialand error; I like fig newtons but they are too dry to eat during a run. Other things I learend from other runners. Please send me another note.
