Hey Lyla! Hope you are well. Thanks for adding me as a friend. I apologize I havent responded to tudiabetes friends. Very busy with the 3yr old I care for and my own family. Holiday weekend good to get online and catch up with friends. God Bless you!
you now reasently I haven't been doing well with my daibeties. My BG spikes when I play football, soccer, and all other exesising sports which sucks cause I cant get enough of the sports. But cause I Play so much my a1c has been kinda high not no 11.8 but more like 9.?. But you sound like going through something a little bit different. Well my a1c is dropping down to at least 8.5 or lower. I hope your A1c is dropping as well! good luck.
wooooow! thats not cool :\
i was diagnosed when i was 12 i think.
well actually, i just went in for a med-check (to make sure my med. is working for my ADD) and i mentioned to my doctor how i was peeing&drinking a ton,
so i peed in a cup for a urine sample,
and got a finger stick,
and my BG was around 200.
so they broke the news to me.
hby?
Hi Lyla! The reason that I bolus early is because even the "fast-acting" insulins don't start acting until 15-20 minutes after you inject them. You have to be careful with this because if you don't eat when you are supposed to, you will have really bad lows. But I think it is a good idea to wait 10 minutes if you can.
It never gets easy, but pumping has helped alot. Back when I was diagnosed, I was on one shot a day and we had no bgs meters. I have found over the years with tighter more rigid control things are even a bit harder and it becomes quite the 24/7 disease. I have not had any real complications, my endo thinks mostly because I have good genes. :)
Hi Lyla! Thanks for your comment. When I got my blood sugar under control and finally got an A1c under 7, I did start to have more lows, but much less severe lows (I usually don't go below 55). I eat carbs, but I make sure to give my insulin early. I use Humalog and I take it 15-30 minutes before eating. I think this is the reason that my blood sugars are so much better. It's an easy thing to change too :)
I just saw that you have to deal with Celiac too. That's hard... what kinds of things do you usually eat?
Hiyahh! :D
hahahah, i guess it does!
Yeah, i still kinda think i am. :)
But my doctor said i shouldnt, but my basal rates are so low. :)
