Amy---Manny split off a Pacific Northwest/Washington and Oregon Group recently. Please pop over and join. We're looking for ways to eventually plan a meet-up. Maybe as soon as TuD's second anniversary in March! What part of Portland are you in? I'm over north--not too far from Interstate and Going.....Be well!.....

Hi Amy,
So, you are a violinist? I love the Micheal Buble music! You should get out your violin and try to play along! That could be alot of fun! I play violin in the OKC Philharmonic and teach privately. I love music and would consider myself an addict! :) I hope your diabetes control is going well. I am about 6 1/2 months pregnant and my sugars are the best they have ever been in my life. I guess that is what getting pregnant will do! :)

Hey...thanks for the friend reaquest! good luck with getting your bg back on track. I'm sure you can do it. I wouldn't beat yourself up about it either. It's not that high and you are in your 20s. I'm sure I did worse damage to my body in my 20s than that ;) I got the Omnipod a few months ago and really love it, of course I have nothing else to compare it to. It is a little bulky but every time I get up in the night or change my clothes or take a shower, I'm so glad that I don't have to deal with the tether and the pump attached to it somewhow. Let me know if you have any questions about it.

Hi Amy! Thanks so much for requesting me. I'm so sorry for taking so long to introduce my self. I just wanted to send you a quick hello, feel free to chat anytime. Unfortunately I don't spend too much time on on the web ( I wish I was more available to interact with the other people on here, they're all great) How long have you been a diabetic?

Thank you Amy! It's good to see another musician too! I do play professionally.. do you? My sister, Laura Young, is also a type 1 diabetic, and plays violin.. have you added her as your friend?

Hi Amy - Yes, I am in Portland! I have been on the Cozmo pump about 3 and a half years. I love it! It has been really reliable, has great features, and their customer service is outstanding. Do you have the contact information for the rep in Portland? He is great! He will come and show it to you and answer all of your questions. He is Type 1 too and wears the Cozmo. Let me know if you don't have it....I will find it for you and pass it along.

Hi Amy! We are almost the same age and we were both diagnosed with type 1 at 21! I had a similar experience as you (eating whatever I wanted an chasing it with insulin). I have become much more proactive about counting carbs and taking fast acting insulin 20-30 minutes before eating and it has made all the difference! All the best to you-- I know that it is a constant struggle, especially after getting used to the "eating whatever you want" diet! Keep us posted!

Hi Amy! I was so anti-insulin pump, but after 12 years I finally gave in...it really has made my life so much more enjoyable! I've found that the level of control possible with the OmniPod is just not achievable with shots, and it just gives time back to your day. I can't speak about any other pumps, but I definitely recommend at least trying! You can always go back to shots if you don't like it!!
