Hi, Danica! I'm a subscriber to and love your YouTube channel, but that's not why I'm posting this comment. I was diagnosed only ~4 months ago in late-middle January. I found your videos during the first few days when I was in the in the hospital. Your videos introduced me to what life would be like when I left the hospital; they, or rather you, made the the transition much easier for me.
The thing I'm trying to say is 'thank you.' I honestly can't thank you enough.

Have you ever have you ever seen Patch Adams? You can cure with a smile? That model plus the Joslin knowledge in every sense modle is the model I want to come up with. Treat a patient with a smile and a laugh but also with knowledge and care. You know?

I am a big fan of your videos I think in one of them you said you were going into diabetic education... well I am going to school to become a doctor I start medical school in the fall I want to specialize in endo I want to concentrate in diabetes. My goal is to not only treat diabetics and make it a more pleasant experience like Ive had but also to find a cure for diabetes in our life time! so there are no more pokes!
Smiles and laughter. Joy and cheer. New happiness that stays throughout the year... Hope your birthday brings all these and more. BEST WISHES DANICA!!

Danica, I'm a subscriber on YouTube and I found your videos shortly after I was diagnosed. I can't tell you how much they have meant to me. Watching you gave me hope and motivated me to start learning as much as I can about my Type 1. Thank you.
Oh cool! Where do you go to college? ....Are you a duck?!
I'm a junior at the University of Mary for nursing. Hoping to eventually become a Nurse Practitioner and get my CDE :)
What are you majoring in?
I think you should do it! It's not that far of a drive its fun, free, and you can pick how long you want. You sleep there and have your own cabin with the other volunteers. You basically help with blood sugar testings and bring the kids snacks when they need, and lots of other stuff. We had enough free time though to go kayaking and hiking and to hang out with the kids. I loved it! Its a little hectic at times though. Haha one volunteer was on duty for overnight checks (midnight checks if they are lower than 100 at bedtime) and he read the meter as 28 (its in a dark cabin!) and gave the kid some ensure and then realized he was reading it at the wrong angle and they were 128! OH NO! Lol it was all good though, they fixed with just a little insulin :)
I LOVE the OmniPod. SERIOUSLY. It's the best thing that ever happened to me. I forget its even on me, seriously. It's like people ask me (what is that?) And I go...what? OH YEAH. Because I just wear it on the back of my arms. Did you even or would you ever consider getting the OmniPod?
I just got the Dexcom Seven Plus yesterday too and I like it so far, although I put the sensor on my tummy and it was just not workin' out. I don't like things on my belly, they get sore easily. Next time I'm gonna have to put it on my hip (where you put your site for you pump in your last video) and the back of my arm. Its great otherwise!
BTW- I'm gonna have to do some video responses! I just made a video about my new dexcom and I loved it! I just have to get a nicer webcam with a microphone and I will be set!
Hey Danica! Just noticed you were a part of the Pacific Northwest Diabetics group. Where do you live? I live there (usually) but I'm in the midwest for college right now. I love to talk and meet up with other diabetics, especially around my age...I volunteered at Camp Sealth which integrates Diabetic kids for one week over the summer, if you live in the Seattle area, you should consider doing it next summer! Talk to you soon!
