Hello! How Do You Do, and HAPPY BIRTHDAY to you DriveOn... Best Wishes NOW....and for the rest of the year!
How's it all going? Do you have any questions or comments?
I was telling you that I don't know what else to do because my glucose is still over 100 when I wake up and 2 hours after eating is usually between 125-145..but that's counting carbs, of course. Last time I went to McDonald's and ordered a sugar-free vanilla iced coffee and I could tell that they gave me the one with sugar because I was feeling terrible, I was falling asleep while driving and very dizzy, my sugar was 220 when I got home, I couldn't eat dinner that night. Tell me about you please, I hope everything is going well for you. Take care.
Hey,how are you doing? I'm still here trying to get used to my disease, I still can't believe I have diabetes! Sometimes I am very optimistic, sometimes I am very sad and crying. But no matter what my mood is, I still watch carefuly what I eat. I don't want to end up with complications so soon. I have an appointment on June 7, I am very nervous about my A1c and other tests they did to check my kidneys and liver, I think. They are not checking my cholesterol this time, I don't know why. I have been working out almost every day, I don't know what else to do
Well, I would like to change doctors but with my insurance is difficult. I will wait and see how everything goes these 3 months and then I will do something about it. I have my next appointment on July. My doctor is not and endocrinologist, he said he is the "diabetes specialist". Let me know how you do on your cholesterol. I called in for my results and they were a little better, My total cholesterol went from 184 to 170, triglycerides 133 to 76, HDL from 46 to 48 now. I know that 48 for good cholesterol sounds great, but for women it should be near 60, I think it's different for men. I hope you got good results. Please share!
Yeah, my doctor wanted me on Crestor for my HDL and although the HDL isn't really high my overall numbers are 180. And I've been reading that cholesterol can actually have a protective function. I know diabetics have a higher incidence of heart attack but I don't think statins can prevent that. That's my thinking anyway!!
Did you say organic? I like organic for certain foods. In my view, organic beef is not such a big deal if it is grass fed or hormone/antibiotic free. But it can be hard making tradeoffs, often it is just too expensive. We have farmers markets around where I live and there is always localharvest.org. But I'm not clear that organic makes any difference to HDL. Pasteured and free range certain make a difference in how much omega-3s are in the meat and eggs.
I am a bit of a contrarian on eating fats for health. I take fish oil and try to get lots of Omega-3 fats. But I also eat saturated fats. Even Dr. Davis, a cardiologist agrees (http://heartscanblog.blogspot.com/search/label/HDL), suggesting that you eat eggs, lean meats and hard cheeses. The best are pasteured, grass fed and free range. I've found fish oil can go bad, causing the dreaded "fish oil burp," lethal at 20 feet. I keep my fish oil in the fridge, out of light and use it up within a couple months. And weight training does really help markedly. Best of luck.
Nice to hear from you again! I perfectly understand how you feel about losing your eyesight (besides all the other complications). I was already nearsighted (-5.25 on each eye) and I also have eye floaters, and I am very afraid of this disease making it worse. I know 1 lady who lost her eyesight another one that is about to lose it. One is type 1 and the other one is type 2 and both on their early fifties. I am not satisfied with the medical attention I am receiving, and I don't have options...very frustrated...take care and keep in touch please.
Hi, i hope you are doing great...I just came back from my doctor's appointment and I found out that my A1c went from 6 to 5.2! I am very happy about this, my doctor congratulated me (it's been tough, as you should know), but I am a little concerned about my daily glucose levels...I hardly ever get them to be below 145 two hours after eating and 95-116 fasting. Sometimes I even get 160s or 180s two hours after eating! My doctor says that's fine, as long as my A1c is low...I am scared to be ruining my eyes and other organs but he insists that its ok
the endo is the endochronologist. A specialist for diabetes. Some people go to them and some just go to regular practioner. Yep, Crestor was the devil for me. I am getting better though. I noticed that I can go out for an hour ride without no leg burn or weakness so that is great. Do you have access to any mountain bike trails in your side of the world. I love the rush of downhill, clears the mind from worries. I used to drive out to Colorado before I got married and would hit the mountains out there for a few days. One of our better down hills trails was closed a few years back because of endangered species. take care
I was out of it for a couple of weeks. I was switched to crestor for cholesterol when I switched to a new endo. After a while it gave me some serious week spells that scared the crap out of me. I felt like I could not even move. Ruined spring break for the family so I called my endo and got taken of the crestor. After that I managed to get back on the bike and this past weekend I managed to increase my ride by 3 miles. It was a nasty ride also because the winds in texas have been insane lately. I had the wind in my back and pushed against it on the way home. It has been like that for the past three days but at least I am on the bike again without feeling tired.
Hi, I don't know if I'm doing better now because my Dr.'s appointment is on April 5th, today I went for some lab work...I'm nervous about the results, but I have been doing everything I can. I hope I don't need meds yet. How are you doing? Have you ad an A1c done lately? If so, what was the result? I hope you are doing great and taking care of yourself, just like me..
