I like to use PowerBar gel, mainly because it has electrolytes plus carbs (27g a little high for most folks). It's easy to take a little at a time when exercising though It also comes in different flavors.

Have you read the poem "Trees" by Joyce Kilmer, a poet killed in Europe the latter part of WWI. I learned this poem in 7th grade and it always stuck with me.

Hi, thanks for the add. I agree, it does help to talk to others with diabetes about numbers and such. Did you take the photo on your page?

Hey Kat, thanks for adding me. I think you are my first "friend" who lives in Germany! :) Sounds like you've got a good endo over there.
Congrats again on your a1c & I hope you have a great weekend!

I asked my doctor a couple of times if he was sure, and he said yes! I am very happy. It is going to be strange getting used to the idea. I don't think I'll ever look at carbs again in the same way though!

Thanks for the blog comment. It took a couple of months for me to be ready to look at the information about complications. The basics of living were too overwhelming when I was diagnosed, so I put them on a back burner. Now, when I hear those kinds of stories, I think that I know a lot about diabetes, and could probably figure out why those things happened to the people. So I basically brush them off as being dramatic stories from people who don't know a lot about D.

No, not really. I'm looking at groups for a specific mental health issue - and that's not diabetes! I signed up for my course before I was diagnosed. Also I would never study a group without permission.

I'm studying psychology, particularly looking at online support groups. When a diamond was found in South Africa, it was sent to the town I live in to be tested. There is a museum here that still has the pane of glass on which the people wrote to test the diamond.
