Interesting...I was kind of curious where they came up with that card name. Here is some more trivia for you, perhaps you already knew this:
Portland OR was given its name due to a coin toss. Two immigrants, Francis Pettygrove from Portland, Maine and Asa Lovejoy from Boston, Massachusetts, both wanted to name the fledgling site then known as "The Clearing" after their respective home towns. The coin toss was decided in 1845 with two out of three tosses going to Pettygrove who won.
The weather was great while I was there. Nice and sunny. Beautiful. I took the subway all over the place! I got this from Sara a month ago when I emailed her to ask about the reunion dates:
"The dates for the event next year will be May 10 and 11 (a Friday and Saturday). I’m still working on putting together the program and signing a contract with the hotel, etc. We should be sending out more formal invitations with the holiday cards mid-November. "
So, we should be getting official information soon! Hope to see you there!

Hi Ken, Thanks for saying hello! I am going to be at the 2013 medalist reunion at Joslin... But I am not sure of the exact date of the reunion as yet. Do you know when it will be? So glad that you enjoyed Boston! This is a city with so much culture and history, lots to do here. Best wishes, Stephanie
Hi Stephanie, I just read your story in the 30 year group. I just wanted to say hello and say maybe we'll see you this spring? I hear Joslin is having their 2013 medalist reunion. I was just there at Joslin in May and enjoyed Boston a lot. Take care, Ken
Hello! Thank you for having me as a friend Stephaniebeth! Some of us are so far away, but it feels like you're right here! That's one of the appealing factors of tu.diabetes. I'm in Canada...in the southwestern part of the province of Ontario...a city named Kitchener-Waterloo (2 cities joined together). I'm a wife of 33 years (hubby is also diabetic), mom to two grown children (one 28, the other 26), a grandma to 3 lovable little boys, a teacher, and before that an illustrator (still do some) and graphic designer....I speak French fluently, I read, history fascinates me, I paint, sing, walk, garden, ski, ride my bike....did I mention "read"? I love having friends over, I bake/cook, am an eclectic music lover, an animal lover...the ocean...ah the ocean...it speaks to me! Oh...and I have diabetes (and a few other things). Nice to have you as a friend!!! Tell me a bit about yourself!
Keep in touch, ok? hugs....linda

We could have been named: Boston, Oregon!
