Hello shoshana27,
Thanks for welcoming me.
I was diagnosed back in March of this year with an a1c of 8.2 (I believe).
Since than, I have been watching what I eat by limiting myself to 45-60 carbs per meal.
I used to have a coke (not Pepsi or other soda) at every meal. Now I only have it every now and than.
I am also eating smaller portions of everything except salads. I did not eat salads a lot but now I will have salads to fill up a meal if needed.
I was also taking metformin twice a day
Wish I could say that exercise helped, however it didn't really play a roll to get the a1c down (since it didn't start yet.
Hi. Been pumping since Thursday. First site change today. Had to do it twice and had trouble getting the needle out easily. But it's in and working for now so that's good!! I am frustrated but getting support from the website. I live alone so if I have a question or want some feedback I can put in a question and get direction. It has been sooo helpful. Thanks for thinking of me.
Hi Shoshana Thanks very much for adding me as your friend it's so nice to be so welcomed. Look forward to chatting with you and gaining some knowledge. Many Thanks Melissa
Oh yeah one more thing I've found if I eat anything like pepper or sausage (hot or mild) it will upset ur diagestion and make u really hurt with heartburn or anthing like that u might wanna do what I done and take any spicey food out of ur diet. I done the samething with chilli and I sooooo love it
I saw what u posted in the gasteroparis group. I tend to have all those symptoms + it takes me about 4 hours to digest any meal. My bowels don't act everyday either. I wind up taking stool sofinfer to get them to work everyday but it does get sooooo bad that I have to take a laxitive to get them to work. Life huh???
now please remember that the Nexium is the only brand name I take and I take it 2x a day the other 2 are Metoclopam 4x a day each pil b/f i eat and Dicyclomine 4x a day each one b/f I eat. I know that I should be taking some more but I just don't eat so's I don't haffa.
I'm sorry but yesterday was a day of drs for me. I take LOADS of meds for it. Wait I'll go find the names of them (and really they still don't work I've gotten to where theres only a few things I will eat & sometimes that don't work either)
WOW! I just read about when u were born. For some reason I had u in ur 30's LOL! OK I was soooooo far off. I want to thank you for all u've done to make it abit easier for the diabetics of the 70's. U ROCK!!!
Tsk....guess I shouldn't complain!! Of our 2 children, our eldest is a "girl"....27! She's the mom of our youngest grandson...20 months old. Our son is 2 years younger than our daughter, and is the dad to a 4, and a 2 year old. As well, I have been spoiled in that they all live in the same community...in fact they all live in our house at the moment as they had shared the mortgage of one large house, bought jointly last Summer, which went to a fire in January and lost everything. Thankfully they had insurance! linda
Morning Shoshana...luv the name :) Thank you for adding me to your circle of friends! Having been dx in 1936, has allowed you to see a bucket full of changes in diabetes management over the years! Bet YOU could tell us a few stories!!! I have 2 children and 3 grandchildren (all boys...would be nice to see a little girl in the configuration).
I was dx in 2006 with type 2....but I'm pretty sure I had it long before.
Many hugs....linda in canada.
