Good Morning,Marie. All three of us slept like logs. All this very tiring. Just took Russ's BP 102/60 going up. My BG 102. This morning,Russ goes to the urologist to check on that growth on his adrenal gland. I hope he says leave it alone. Or if something has to be done it can be done with a scope. Did you have a good night? I hope so. I hope yur readings are not all over the place. Tom has to go home today as he has evaluations to write and annual reports. My very best to Ed. Take good care of yourself. I care. HUGS,Reed

Thank you so much for the warm welcome! I am loving this site. I live in a very isolated place, with no other diabetics, and I'm just now seeing how many different ideas and sources of information there are out there!

It's so cool that you make your own bread-- I've always wanted to try but didn't really know how to go about it. And yessssss yesyesyes i would LOVE that link, the only vegan things i know how to make are vegan cupcakes :)

Good morning - thank you for the welcome! You asked if I'd used emla cream .. I haven't, although it has been recently suggested to me. It's not so much that it "hurts" - it's just a mind game. (Ok yea it does hurt a bit .. but it's over as soon as it goes in) ;) Thanks again! Hope to "see you around"!

Good Morning,Marie. In the hospital yesterday Russell looked great. Home no energy dragging it is his legs. I hope the physical therapists will help. His Coumadan was 3,6 should be 2.2. In the hospital they musc have been giving him too much. He goes to the PCP this morning to get re-tested. After Tom has to go home as his annual reports are due. My BG 104, How are you doing? Did you get through the night ok? I hope your readings are good,. It sounded like a very pretty ride to your Guild meeting. Give my best to Ed. You both are in my thoughts and prayers. HUGS,Reed

He actually has one. Unfortunately he sleeps through it when it goes off. I know we will get through this. It just gets very stressful at times. Every spring we start having more pproblems getting his BG in control. I'm just scared one of these times I won't be there to bring him back around. He has an appointment tomorrow with his Diabetic Educator; that should help. Thanks for listening though.

Hi Marie. Thanks for the link. I am thinking about just making buttonholes for the hooks. Trev could punch the grommets for me if I went that route.
Yes I have a rotary cutter but no idea where the mat is. Duh. I am just too freakin' bored.
But then I recalled the library has free classes on using the computer for genealogy research, but they are always held on Wed and I had dialysis. But now I can go.

Good Morning,Marie. How are things with you? I am tired and weary. If the two doctors agree Russ might come home today BY if will need pt and a respitory therapist. I hope they come to the house. Yesterday,he had a test I never heard of nuclear test of his heart. My BG high 118 as I have not been as careful as I should. Tom still here. I hope your readings are good and you feel better. Sorry I have been neglectful but a lot going on. My best to Ed. I do do the W's and B's every day. Take care. HUGS,Reed

Just saying hi and that I'm thinking about you!

We are doing fine. I went to my endo this week and my A1c came back at 6.5, which was a pleasant surprise, as I didn't think my numbers have been very good (and I haven't been measuring too much). My endo was happy about it too. A is not sleeping well -- so we are all exhausted, but he is pulling himself up to stand and is pure joy during the day. He really has more energy than either of his parents ;)

The Arcadia Lake area is really changing! You probably wouldn't recognize it now. It sounds like moving into a big house with 2 people is like the movie "Money Pit" LOL I always enjoyed visiting with Painton, he'd look at my A1C, cholestorol, blooo pressure, ask how I was feeling and then we'd talk about golf stuff, equipment, trips etc. I hated to see him go. Abducted by guys have a great sense of humor! Have a great day!

Good Morning,Marie. I was up early. I was at the Flagler blood drawing station at 7. I was #15. I see my PCP NEXT MONDAY. We called Russ. He had a pretty good night even though they woke him up for things. He sees his PCP today and his heart doctor. While we there they did a nuclear EKG. The heart doctor did not like it so later the guy came back with a huge machine and did it again. He told Russ he had the strangest heart he has ever seen it is not in the normal position. Tom is out for a short run. After breakfast take some things to the dry cleaners my tax stuff to CPA then see Russ. They say at least 2 more days. Me..I am doing fine. My BG 102. I hope you had a good night and no up and down with your readings. My best to Ed. Take good care. I care. HUGS,Reed

Hi again,
The waiting is what's upsetting. On one hand I'm wondering if I'm over-reacting, but on the other I am seeing too many signs not to worry. Someone on another thread sort of implied that I was overly concerned because my BG went up to 115 with 15-20 grams of carbs, and maybe she's right, but there's that blueberry muffin in the back of my mind... Also, it went up and didn't come down again for 3-4 hours, which is a sign of low pancreas function. Bernstein says non-diabetic sugars shouldn't vary out of the 80-90 range, regardless of what you eat. Are you on a low carb diet? Thanks again for your support, as it really helps to know there's a network out there!

Hi Marie, I used to see Ron Painton at the Endocrine Group. I think Dr. Draelos was there too. Painton just retired so now Dr. Roger Smith is his replacement. I've seen him once so far. Seems to be a really nice guy. I've had approximately 150 burns in left eye and about 120 in the right. I still drive and play golf but my golf buddies have to watch the ball for me! :) So you lived in the Arcadia area, it really is a small world. Re: blogs, I'm not much of an internet authority, so thanks for the advice! G

Hi Marie,
Thanks so much for your kind words of welcome. I have been frantic for the past week as I've begun realizing the probability that I have LADA. I am 67, not obese (though I've been plump at times), and had Graves Disease (thyroid autoimmune) that resulted in a complete removal of my thyroid at age 40. I'm also definitely not insulin resistance according to a very complete set of tests that were done a couple of months ago. I've been VERY low carbing it for 3 months, and before that was moderate carbs, but had never given myself a "glucose tolerance" challenge until last week. I read Dr. Bernstein's book and picked up a free kit at the drugstore, and was I shocked to see that even with almost ZERO carbs my glucose shot up over 200 (at one hour) when I ate a blueberry muffin, and only sank back to 140 at 2 hours. That has really shaken me up. Any insights would be appreciated, but I do have that appointment later this week, and will let you know what happens.

Good Morning,Marie. I was sleeping and Tom came down and tapped me. I am taking Russ to the ER. He cannot breathe. It must be bad for Russ to be willing to go to ER. I am just about awake. Really shook up. I will get back to you. He has been looking terrible, Hope all is well with you. HUGS,Reed
