M Kay, how are things going? i want you to know that you can feel free to ask me most anything and true to my nature if i don't have an answer i will make one up, or well not. LOL I am concerned how are you doing these days?
Welcome, M Kay- You are not suffering with diabetes, you are living with it. All of us under-
stand what you are feeling. We can help with questions you may have about it.
Just wanted to say hello and that I just read your discussion. I know what you are going through....it is so hard to grasp. Overwhelming and depressing. But, it will get easier and you will adapt...you have many people here that understand and will be there for you, really! Take each day as it comes, baby steps, and be kind to yourself. It takes time. I care. I understand. Please take care and remember you have many friends here, willing to help and listen.

It will be okay, may not seem like it right now. But, please know that it will be. If you need anything at all just leave me a message, I will help anyway possible. XO
Kay: Welcome to this site! You now have at your fingertips a wealth of information, support, and empathy.
I learned of my diagnosis in mid-October, in almost exactly the same way; I know what you are feeling.
Feel justified in the grief, anger, bargaining, and denial; all of that will diminish when you're ready. Line up a friend or two who will support you emotionally; you may not find another Type 1, but having someone close by with whom you can talk will be very helpful.
Find a good endocrinologist who will both listen to your questions and provide guidance. Ask for recommendations for a diabetes educator, and pepper the educator with questions. If you are not comfortable with either, find another.
This is a HUGE life change. The anger and grief will pass, and you will learn to adjust -- it will be rough for a while, and you'll probably have some ugly thoughts along the way. Do not ever think that you are alone in this: 99.9 percent of the people on this board are behind you 100 percent.
You *will* survive this and you *will* be happy again; in the meantime, do not hesitate to reach out if you need to.
