Hi Rickster! So nice to hear from you. Is that pesky dissertation done? Have you healed from your surgery? I am doing very well. Had a touch of pneumonia a couple weeks back. It really put me down but I have recovered. I'm still going to the Y at least once a day and some days twice and keeping all sorts of spreadsheets on my progress with the different machines. In other words, I'm diggin' it and have actually been in better shape than I can remember. Spent many hours at the SS office regarding whether or not I could stay on disability. Talked to two old timers and both said yes and documented that I'd reported a change in my health status. Let me know if you feel I shouild do anything more. Sheesh, the last thing I'd need would be to get in trouble with the government. When I went to the office, I had to surrender my backpack and be wanded. Apparently there have been instances where people were denied benefits and pulled guns........yikes. I ordered a cheap violin from Amazon and am trying to teach myself to play. I don't seem to be catching on but will keep trying. I have two extraordinary movies for you - "We've Got to Talk About Kevin" and "___, Who Lives At Home". I don't recall what the boy's name was. Both will make you think! I was downtown the other day talking to a street musician and he told me CSN were coming in Aug. Well, I hadn't bee to a concert in at least ten years and thought I'd get myself a ticket. I guess prices have gone up a bit - I was thinking $40-60, but the nosebleed seats start at $130 and the main floors go all the way up to $340. I may still go. I can borrow some military field glasses from a friend's husband. Hey, buddy, don't be a stranger. I wish you a good summer ahead and like your new profile picture - it looks snappy.
oh Rick, I didn't know you were there! when do you expect to get out? I know well the psychological toll it does to you when you're in the hospital and in pain for long periods. In 1979 I ruptured my kidney and I was in the hospital for MONTHS and it really screwed my head to a fare-thee-well. you've been in over a week now, so it must really feel like trying for a jail-break. All I could think about was I wanted to go outside and RUN, fly, and of course, sleep in my own bed, wash my hair, wear clothes, and eat real food. come visit us when you get bored. we're going to have a new look this week, let me know if you missed Manny's discussion about the changes coming....
Rick, thank you for the kind words. It was the members of Tu that voted for me, so I am very appreciative. I do tell people about it whenever I can. Say, did you get that new hip, and how's it working for you? my neighbor got a new one last year and she was home the next day.
I do not know you but what a wonderful gesture making a donation to my dear friend,Kathy. She was overwhelmed. I get a t-shirt for my donation and I am having it sent to her. Names...I should be REID but the doctor 84 years ago typed it REED..so I am stuck with it. My dear Mother would not permit REED on my high school diploma. I had to get a new one saying REID KINGSTON TAYLOR.
Again, that was a wonderful thing you did. It made her day. Reid/Reed
Rick I was gonna leave a comment on the movie review but it says "this discussion is closed to comments" - must be another glitch in the system.
Fall is inthe air - lovely cool weather, shorter days and a hit of gold in the leaves.
At the end of June I was hit by a car and spent 5 days in the local trauma center with a ruptured spleen. Fortunately I did not need surgery.
My vein graft continues to be troublesome. Twice I had an infiltration and my arm swelled up like a balloon. Now they are talking another surgery which I do NOT want, even if it's a day procedure.
OMG!!! I’m so Happy for you Rick. I know that it was pretty grime there for a while. My Rheumy and I had a discussion about the drug you are on …again. I mentioned that you were pleased with it so far from our other conversions and he was Happy to hear it also. He said that his Patients felt more energy and I could be off off the Metho and maybe the Pred.
After a million phone calls the last 2 weeks, we finally got things set up. The paperwork just has to be filled/signed by my Rheumy(who should be back from Europe) and okayed by our Insurance. No biggie. I get my first infusion this week.
Wow! I never even thought of the depth. Us Canucks....too easy. ;D Thanks for the second tip.
“After all I think it is in Constitution that we can enter Canada and colonize it any dam time we want.” Didn’t you’s try that in the 1812-1814 war? What was plan B again?
LOL! You Guys have been living here for decades. The fence would just be a façade btw. You could probably blow it down with one puff. Yes indeed, you are entitled.
Sarah P’s Fan Club may be numerous but her popularity with the majority of Americans has dropped significantly perhaps because she hasn’t been playing in the political arena. Scratch that! I just saw her ride in on a motorcycle. She’s Baaacckk!
Diabetic 50th in December…YES!. ‘Bout time! I hope that I make it to December or January. I’ll be mad if I don’t. It’s been a long haul.
Don’t you have anyone who could verify approximately when you were dxd? Siblings, Parents, Cousins Aunts/Uncles, Family Friends? There must be someone. If you start a medal company I want one of yours too. No thugs included please.
Ahahaha Rick!! :D Sorry, I didn't have time to see who the Members were. I saw the Group on the side, read the last 8 posts and joined to congratulate Patricia on her 50th.
How are you doing Lad? I thought that you would have bought and moved into a house there by now. Damn! I don't know what those Guys have been doing with the time and money but since you haven't moved in yet, I'll speak to them tomorrow, so that they'll get that darn fence up before you bring your load over. Thanks for the tip. :D I'll get them to make it higher on your side since you are pretty tall. We wouldn't want you crawling over it and injuring yourself now would we?
Seriously how have you been Rick? Please tell me that you are still feeling Good on the A medication. I'm only switching because of you, you know. It's always Good to have someone to blame. LOL!
hi Rick, hope you are doing well. they make the M&Ms not too far away from here, in Hackettstown NJ. I had a friend who worked there, but she got laid off. peanut M&Ms are sooo good.
Remember how we both love M & M's.? My best friend actually wrote to the M&M company requesting them to make some type of low sugar M & M ! It was very sweet of her. =)
Rickster - thanks for the compliment. Amazing what warpaint, a trip to the salon, and the ability to choose from 20 different shots does to enhance one's appearance.
I was wearing the ears when my sister and niece came to pick me up and when I got into the car they got knocked off and fell into a mud puddle.
Monday was the first day they tried to use my arm access. Prior to that I had an external catheter hanging out of my shoulder. I was startled by the pain when they put the first needle in an started crying. The tech said "get with the program and stop being a cry baby". This woman is truly mean and I have seen her being very short with the elderly patients. Yet, I have to see her 3x per week so I just decided to suck it up.

Oooooh I LOVE the video. I need to get a TB disc from the library - would be great workout music. Tom Petty is such an obnoxious little freak....

Rick I haven't seen you around for awhile. Please let me know that everything's okay. We miss you.
Oppps! I forgot to add:
***Happy Thanksgiving Day USA Rick!!!***
Be Good and have Fun(if possible). That's a contradiction if I ever heard one. :D

Otherwise, the summer was reasonable. Take care.
