Your son was diagnosed not long after ours (Dec 2)- did your son go to Children's too? We chose a local independent provider over the Children's group for a bunch of reasons and are very happy with her treatment of our son. (Cong Ning of Adventist Health Care)
Our son is only 5, and I have lived with type 1 since I was 4.
Thanks for adding me- it's nice to find another local parent on here!
Hello....sorry about your son's dx...there are alot of members here that have had diabetes since they were children and are doing very well and I am sure can give you alot of support and enccouragement. What a wonderful mother you are. Your son will live a healthy, happy life. Medical and technology advances are just amazing. I wish you well and look forward to knowing you. Take care. xo Robyn
I see Marie has been by telling you about the Parent's of Type 1 there! Good! Your son (and you) will make it! When I first took Type 1 back in the early 70's there was no such thing as checking your bs you had to pee in a cup and test your urine! Things have really gotten sooooo much better! I took it at 10 that's how I know he will surprise you. He's alot tougher than you think! He is already showing you he is if he can do the finger pricks and the shots without fussing about them
I have a Type 1 daughter also she is now 21 years old with 3 kids 3 1/2 and almost 2 and a grandson 3 weeks. The other 2 are girls. Please tell your son about us so he can join up too. We would love to have him and I'll bet he would love to join up too!
hi mom, welcome! here is the new member guide - also, if you click on Groups on the top banner, there is a nice one called "Parents of Kids with Type1" - please leave a comment on my page if you have any questions - I've had type1 for 42 years.
