I got a first in Artisan bread for my sourdough, and a first in loaf bread for my homestyle! can't wait to get my comment cards back to see what they said. so proud, I've worked at getting that sourdough good this year. they were both picked up pretty quickly in the bake sale after the competityion.
hey I am doing just fine thank you, and thank you for responding to my question. Those diabetic groups may be just what i am looking for. If you have anymore information on like the times of the meetings that would be great. I live in Hilliard and I am not all the firmiliar with the Short North though I have been there a few times so please let me know if you have anymore information about the dinner group or the meeting please let me know. I can be kind of shy in new situations ecspecially sense i dont know anyone in these groups so if you have been to meetings there before it would be nice to see someone there i atleast recognize! Thanks again for the info!
that's my backup loaf. the one I really want to win is the Fleishmann's yeast on Friday. it's a national contest, and the winner in the fair wins $150 and goes on to regional and possible national $$$ awards. this year the theme is "sandwich". my husband and I tried it today and it's killer. (must have been, made my bg go up into 200 land). do I sound a little excited? our fair is so old-fashioned, it's like a blast from the past.
I'm actually pretty excited about the baking. I'm entering my sourdough in the artisan category, and my homstyle in the regular bread. toasted coconut oatmeal raspberry bar cookies. then on Friday is the Fleishmann's yeast competition (this is a national one) aand this year it's a sandwich, so hoping I have a chance, 1st place gets $150. Yes, I've won many ribbons for quilting, and Have been judging for about 5 years now. it's really very interesting, we have a great group who take it quite seriously.
Greetings Brunetta! Well...the kids are all gone! Danielle moved out about a month ago, and Timothy and Steph spent their first whole day in their own house yesterday! The little ones came to their house (with their cats) this evening...they were spending the weekend with their other grandma. It's such a void here!!! I'm unfamiliar now to how utterly QUIET the house is!!! I keep the radio going...as the lack of constant sound is...well...deafening! The fridge is empty....gotta get some "stuffing"!! Funny thing happened yesterday. The neighbour told Len this morning that at around 11:30 last night some young people pulled up in our drive and headed up to the door with cases of beer!! We almost had a party lol. The neighbours redirected them to Timothy's place. Honestly...11:30! They undoubtedly were there 'till wee hours! Thank goodness it wasn't here! That's not for me anymore! My version of a party has GREATLY changed from my early 20s lol!! Funnier still....apparently the party folks and their beer never made it to Timothy's!!!!
Our children's birthdays are coming up....Danielle will be 28 on the 31st of July....and Timothy's is the following day, Aug. 1st....he'll be 26! Feels like just yesterday I was pushing them in a stroller! Sigh!
How's it all going at your end? Hope all is well with you :)
Take care of yourself ♥
luv and hugs....linda
GOOD MORNING BRUNETTA!! Whatcha up to today? The kids here are packing like mad. They're moving out next Saturday...and get the keys Friday. The grandkids will be with the other grandma then. Our daughter has a new shift that entails her having to work some Sundays, and Stephen (her little guy) would then be babysat here by our daughter-in-law. However next Sunday, if that's the case... Stephen will be with her ex! Next Saturday will be a madhouse here!! On this coming Wednesday (the 18th), I'm helping out at a fundraiser with the Canadian Diabetes Association. It's an amazing day outside! Wishing YOU an awesome day :) Hugs....linda
More "stuff"!! How's the weather at your end...hot and muggy here...was going to weed after the brief shower we had here yesterday....but the air was very thick....and my back still recuperating from having washed the kitchen floor 3x over on all fours (the old fashion way) the day before when Riley (2) decided to spit out his juice all over the place. I would have been arrested for what I toyed doing to him! The room that our daughter was in before moving into her own place is now taken up as a storage room for Timothy and Steph (son and d-i-l). The storage unit they have rented is all full!!! They're moving into their own house starting the 19th of this month! The repeat empty nest syndrome lol. It sure will feel odd to have the whole house to ourselves again! Steph (d-i-l) has a bad ear/sinus infection. She went to a walk in clinic yesterday, and was put on meds, including ear drops. Early evening, her ear was bleeding, which is not uncommon with ear infection...but I nevertheless offered to take her to ER, knowing that we'd be there for at least 6 hours...no no no...she didn't want to go. Midnight, as I'm coming out of the washroom to go to bed, she and Timothy are at the kitchen table...seems that now she feels she should take me up on that earlier offer. I said to her, "you realize that we'll be there all night 'till mid morning anyway!" She had gone to the internet, and of course got scared by the comments and suggested diagnoses of her bleeding ear! (sigh....who listens to me!!) So I said...call telehealth (a telephone access here, that helps to give you a heads up about your symptoms). They basically paraphrased my comment to her..."you have been seen, you DO have an ear infection which may bleed, you are on medication for it, you do NOT have cancer nor have you suffered trauma to the head. Call your doctor in the morning if it is still bleeding" Who listens to me!!! So this morning, she called her doctor who will see her at....3pm, and the appointment was later changed to 7pm! Guess the doc doesn't share her concern!! So...life goes on in the Miller household! Sounds SO much like a soap that I should ask you to stay tuned tomorrow...same time same station! How's life at YOUR end??
hugs....linda
Hey there Brunetta!! Long past 4 days! My classroom is clean....student's hours of French are recorded....made some copies in prep for September ...and designed a new game to help in French. Yesterday was the last of the 2 day First Aid course....I passed! But MOSTLY yesterday was the LAST DAY OF SCHOOL for teachers at our school!!! I'M OFF 'TILL THE LAST WEEK OF AUGUST!!!!! I was to meet up with other teachers yesterday at a colleague's house for a little year end celebration. Got in the car, started it, and the car said....clickclickclickclickclick! I remember we had that trouble last year....has to do with the car's AC/starter! So Len boosted the car, and all seemed fine, but I wasn't pushing it and decided to stay home instead! Right now I feel fine, but yesterday I was a little off and sugars were a tad high! Could be the heat...it was very hot today also! Slept in this morning ...'till 9!!! What bliss! Today is our youngest grandson's 2nd birthday! Tomorrow, our 33rd Anniversary....dinner out perhaps. Sunday the 1st of July, is Canada Day! Doing a picnic and whatnot...water park for the kids, followed by the usual city wide fireworks at dusk.! What about YOU?? Your 4th is coming up...any plans? Luv....linda
Hi Brunetta, yes, we are having lovely weather here too today after a fierce storm yesterday afternoon. My sister is visiting me from Philadelphia this weekend. I heard the chat will be on until this afternoon. Manny is in Haiti, he is doing something there for this year's BigBlueTest, and filming for the video. gosh he's got quite a schedule. our garden is taking off too, this year, we have to do all the work ourselves and the weeding is hard to keep up with.
lol!brunetta! yes it was "spot" evone used to think it was storage for my beeper..hahaha! after a few beers..it became a phone. ahhh gota love those nights!
hey Brunetta, how are you doing today? I've been missing my dad a lot, I'll bet you too, this being your first father's day without him. Thanks for the comment on the picture of me and Manny. You know how there's some people in the world, that when you see them, you just kinda jump up and down inside and say "oh goodie", well it's just so that way with Manny, except double it. I noticed today he's posting some pictures of Stinson Beach, just north of SF, so he must be on a nice day trip there with his wife and little boy. we are having a nice day here in NJ, just took an hour walk around the lake, and I'm at a loss for how my bg went UP, oh well, I think I'll wait to correct, the exercise might catch up with me later.
