Dear Charlie,I would want to share about my NGO. I am currently a chairperson of newly created NGO "Georgian Union of Patients with Diabetes" The Union has been founded in May, 2011 with the initiative of people suffering from diabetes- uniting Georgians (and not only) with diabetes and their family members (since 1988 I have had type 1 diabetes). Union is non-profit organization focusing on diabetes management, protecting the social and health rights access in the society, provides them currently education program known as "Diabetic School" for free. You might know that there are main problems of healthcare and cure of diabetes in Georgia, Since 1996 patients receive insulin for free. For the necessary equipment (syringes, self-control equipment, test-strips etc.) and medications for the treatment and prevention of late complications patients have to pay partly themselves.
Average net salary per month is 300 GEL (120 EUR)
Average pension is 80 GEL (35EUR). of Gorn Union of patienys with Diabetes.
As you see there is difficult situation about healthcare system in Georgia, with my enthusiasm and with the biggest wishes to help them, I wanted to change that hard condition in my country
As newly Organization any type of assistance is very im[portant to us! If you have any kind of idea how to give voice to International and non-goveermental Organizations that exist such type of Union wich would want to help patients with Diabetes in Georgia?!
Yours sincerely,
Natali
