I'm using Tudiabetes as a way to connect with fellow young adults with diabetes. I'm a University of South Florida student and president of our chapter of "Students with Diabetes." We're hosting a national conference June 1st - 3rd in Tampa and want to bring in as many Type I diabetics (18 - 30yrs) as possible from across the country.
Anyway! The conference costs $55 dollars total. Housing, food, & activities like Busch Gardens are included in the price, but we cannot pay for transportation. Please let me know if you are interested in any of this and/or visit our website for more information!
Your art work is amazing and i love music too! I'll have to listen in on your radio show.My husband is a singer for a rock industrial band :).I'm type 1 from MA and into photography. Its very nice to meet you and i look foward to chatting more :)
Hey. Thanks for your advice ever since i was diagnosed i read a lot about it.. googled it like crazy lol i thought the same thing. Its crazy its been over a year and no endo can tell me what type it is so yea im going with the LADA. i guess its just rare. So where in florida are you? =)
Ahaha, i know! Same here! Maybe we can get some kind of check from the goverenment for having an uncurable diasease ;)
At my local zoo they have college students who work seasonally because of there scheduales.
heya check out www.togetherrxaccess.com they sent me a card that will get a discount on one touch and freestyle test strips :) and a bunch of other medications took like ten minutes to fill out the form and they sent me the card in 6 days but you can print one immediately after you sign up!
Yes, I had a month where my pods just sucked, I blame it on a box of bad pods. Other than that Its been great. the occasional failure/occlussion will never make me change to a different pump...
YES! I love my pod!!! makes my life so much easier, and no I have never had another pump. I really dont like the tubing. Just started my pod last sept. and A1C dropped from 9.1 to 6.0
dude. i'm horrible at logging on to check this site. I don't know if i've written back to you yet or not. jeeez, it's been a month. wow. sorry. i just checked out your pics though...ummm....phenominal? you're freakin awesome with the canvas. or whatever medium your choosing. good stuff. hit me up again sometime if you wanna. hopefully i'll remember to log on here. hahaha. oh, and i like rock. rock music. check me out on myspace:
haha the questions are always welcome :) in regard to making it by without insurance it's really difficult, I've just succeeded in getting a year's worth of lantus from sanofi-aventis and am in the process of scoring some humalog from eli lilly, my doc has been my primary care physician since i was about 13 so he does some creative paperwork to get my office visits and labwork taken care of ;) i'm not sure how legal that is but he's a friend of my mom's so that helps, basically i go to school full-time and have 2 part-time jobs to cover supplies, i tend not to eat much haha :)
as for the drinking, everyone's body is different, what i do is back off a bit on my bolus shots to account for the alcohol's bg-lowering effect, about the same as i do for a 90 minute-120 minute intense workout. but it may be different for you, i'd suggest experimenting slowly and making sure you carry some sort of glucose with you all the time that you are drinking :)
Ahaha, yeah, i'm better now.
Aww, that sucks! :(
Its really tough to find a job over here, especially at my age, cause i'm not even legally allowed to have one yet ahah.
I'm trying to enjoy summer too, and i'm succeeding so far lol.
What kinda job are you looking for?
oh yeah! about the pump, i usually just clip it in the center of my bra, or like you know those shirts with the big sleaves? i'll clip it on the band of my bra under my arm, and if you have a loose shirt on its hardly noticeable. *sigh* sadly i've refrained from buying tight shirts anymore hahah
HAHAHA i tried to teach myself Finnish once too but it was like..... epic fail. I'm actually in Norway right now on vacation and i'm starting to wish i learnt a bit of Norwegian before i went... because trying to get directions and ask for stuff here is like.... huh? myself and my boyfriend are going to see some underground Norweigan death metal bands playing while we're here, alot of people seem to be hardcore into metal over here its pretty funny hahah.
but I really want to visit Finland before I come back to Canada though, that would be amazing. I heard it's a very beautiful country, cold! but beautiful
i usually count all the carbs, but i'm not on a pump and i haven't been told differently by anybody. The only good thing i've made with flatbread is pizza, i've tried eating it instead of bread but i find the texture and size kinda weird, but then again i didn't cut it into rolls. Once i put tuna mixed with mayo on it and the tuna kinda soaked through the bread. Your job sounds awesome. I like these bands: incubus, chevelle, muse, dear in the headlights, 30 second to mars, serj, system of a down, red hot chilli peppers, strata, lost prophets, offspring, everclear. Gimmi some new bands to listen to, i like heavy music that doesn't involve to much screaming, good lyrics, etc :)
