Hey Kim!
Sorry it took me a while to get back to you...I've been out of town on vacation. I'm so excited you found me on facebook! I really look forward to getting to know you more. Are you enjoying your summer so far? It always seems to fly by! We can start messaging soon about our drs and ttc path if you'd like. Can't wait to hear from you!
Hi Kim!
I just sent you a friend request because I've been reading your posts and bio and we have a lot in common AND live near one another. I live in Woodstock and teach first grade in Roswell but actually interviewed for a position in Cumming when we moved up here. My husband and I are in are fourth year of marriage and would like to start trying but I'm also at a 6.9 and have some apprehension. I would love to hear from you and we can discuss our schools, drs, pregnancy, etc. I guess I'm just excited because I don't know many other type 1s nearby! Look forward to hearing from you.
Hi! I was teaching Special Education...love spec ed. But, my job got cut...so, for now...just subbing. Unless something pops up--which would be amazing! How wonderful it is that you have that student in your class--that student will def not feel like a loner because of the diabetes. And, you can both educate the rest of the class on diabetes. Are you teaching in NJ?
Hi Kim! I'm just now getting around to accepting your friend invite. Thanks! I haven't looked into TuD until very recently. My DH is a type 1 of about 10 yrs. We have two little boys, and live in the same town as you!
The problem with pumps is that all manufacturers make a big secret of the data exchange. A very investigative IT pro could develop a hardware to connect the pump to the computer. But the real problem is that the data format and the commands that the device is capable of are not available to the public. Mostly because of insurrance issues I guess. I am very much against this policy. It is like taking your data hostage just to bind you to this manufacturer and the tools he is providing. At the same time this comes with a responsibiliy: the manufacturer has as least to provide software that will allow you to download the data and save it as an XML or CSV file for further processing. Thus I think all users of pumps without this kind of support by the manufacturer should ask him to do so. It would be interesting for me to hear what Animas is telling you when you are asking for this kind of software. Maybe they have already developed it...
Hi Kim, thanks for the friend add. I see that you are using the Animas pump. We would like to write an import filter for this device. But from what we have heard it is not that easy to extract the data from the Animas. Maybe this information is outdated and new software updates provide this functionality (an XML or CVS export). What do you think?
No! I've never had an extreme low! The lowest I've ever gotten (in my one year) was 40 something. But... my normal bg has just been in the 70's lately. I usually only check my bg around meal time. So, when I'm correcting for being low, I'm usually taking insulin for a meal, too. Even when I correct for being low, I'm in the 70's the next time, though.
What do you think of your CGM? I want one... but I might just wait until Omnipod gets one. However... I'd LOVE to have one now.
Yeah, I'm very happy with my A1c. I'm overdue for a new one, though... and I'm thinking it might be much lower. My Omnipod says that my average bg from the past 2 months is 91. This week, the average has been 88. So... I have a feeling that I might have a lower A1c when I go in next month. I'm hoping it's very low so that my doctor wants me to get a CGMS!!! lol. i'm so bad...
Happy diabetic birthday, too! My day was the exact same as every other day... but I've spent more time thinking about the past year. I hope you're doing well, and your day was good!
I haven't been on here in awhile and didn't realize that I had a whole wall of posts! I didn't even know I had a wall! :) Hopefully it isn't too late to make some new friends.
Hello! How's it all going Kim....any questions/suggestions? Take a look at some of the groups available when you get a chance!
