Manny, I made it back from our first training in Atlanta for CNN Fit Nation Malibu Triathlon, scheduled for September 14, 2014. I am the only diabetic on the team. Thank you for the t-shirts! Wearing one with the team a top Stone Mountain after our final hike! Who would have thought 2 years ago at 400lbs that I would be training for a triathlon? Another -100lbs to go! Thanks for following my journey! I'm on FB at Sia Figiel. Please join me then! Take care and your A1C numbers are fab!

Thanks for commenting on my blog post Manny (and sorry for taking so long to respond). After being a part of the tudiabetes family for over a week, I'm still astounded by the atmosphere you guys have managed to create and maintain here. I didn't even realize that it was possible to create a place like this on the Internet ;).

Back in 2002 and 2003 I went to camp sunshine - a camp in Maine that used to be open to both people with diabetes and their family members. The sense of community and atmosphere of loving-kindness that I experienced while I was there is similar to what I've experienced here. In a way, tudiabetes is better because you don't have to return to "the real world," in which we are an isolated and misunderstood minority. I could ramble on all day, so I'm going to end this message here...
Happy New Year!

Hi Manny,

I just joined a few days ago. One of the reasons I joined is that my wife went through a minor crisis recently (blood glucose over 400!), when she installed a replacement infusion for her pump incorrectly.

I started thinking of technical ideas that could help in these situations (I am a chemist), and I started wondering how common these issues are. In particular, I am thinking of a relatively simple monitor that would NOT measure blood glucose, but only alert you that something is very wrong- and that you ought to check your blood sugar.

Is it OK to discuss this concept in your forums? It could eventually have some commercial importance, and I would not want to misuse your community.

Thanks,

Joel

Manny I tried to make a donation. They said credit card not accepted. I use AM EXp and nothing wrong with my card. I could not sleep and it was 3 in the morning maybe they thought I was drunk LOL. I will try again. Hope all is going well with you. I have a few ups abd downs but still going strong. HUGS,Reed
