H@ Toni, Oh no I didn't read your post on my page till this morning :( I ran Leg 20 at around 4:00AM across the Fidalgo bike bridge its was awesome, as was the race. Sorry I missed you, thanks for the support!!
Sounds like he's a part of TrialNet which means he doesn't need to come to Seattle for that blood draw. I could send you all the materials to take to a lab and they bill us. Not bad, huh? You'll get the results in 4-6 weeks. My work # is 206-515-5304 if you want to get him screened again.
I've heard great things about Hirsch-especially since he has diabetes himself. I moved here from Colorado in January and now searching for an endo. I'll call UW's diabetes center-maybe see Hirsch. :)
How long have you been in WA? I think there are some T1 meet ups in Seattle that I might go to. I'll keep you posted.
So you know about Benaroya Research Institute then! That's great. If you want to get your son screened again for Type 1 antibodies, I could send you a test kit that you can take to any lab. It's free-and the lab ships the sample back to us. Let me know if you are interested and we’ll get in touch.
Yes, SIL lives in Puyallup. One of the nurses I work with also has a little girl from China. They are hoping to adopt a second child but it's been in process for a couple of years now. Hope it works out for them. The waiting must be difficult I cannot imagine.
Looks like my Ping is ready to ship. I need to call them tomorrow to set it up. Haven't heard back on coverage for the Dex although they've kept me apprised of where everything is in the order process. The has to go out to Edgepark as it's in network for my insurance.
That's great that you go back for the orphanages in China. 4 times now I'm impressed.

Wanted to say thanks for inviting me to NW group. It was a while back but I haven't been posting much trying to learn the site more. I saw your post on the Dexcom group that got my attention as I'll be getting the Ping and hopefully a dex too. I'm glad you got insurance coverage for your Ping.
And my sister in law has adopted two kids from China also. Small world.
Hey how is your school year going? I had an interesting one. I changed Dr and I thought it was time for me to have a stress test. I put 3200 miles on my bicycle so I thought I was in great shape. Well I failed my stress test. Had a cath done Nov 17th. It showed that I needed quadruple bypass. I had it done Dec 11th. I have put 200 miles on my bike so for this year. I am recovering well. I missed All of Dec. I was to have the surgery Dec 2nd but got bumped. I was lucky I didn't have a heart attack during one of my 100 mile rides.
Hey Mrs.Crebbin! Sorry it took so long for me to reply. My new schedule has been insane --and I KNOW that being up this late deffinitely doesn't help. But between Band and Driver's Ed, Oi! Homework is difficult to squeeze in there.
I saw your son at driving school tonight. I had to go to the 6 o'clock class rather than my usual because of a band concert (The grand opening of the SUB building.) I didn't really talk to him --I'm pretty shy, believe it or not-- but it was pretty cool to see another Crebbin haha.
How is your New Year going so far? How are you doing in general?
Anyways, I'm glad to hear from you and again, sorry it took so long to respond. Have a good rest of the week! It's almost Friday! Haha.
That's really cool that you adopted from China. I know that your children must love you for giving them a home.
I know what you mean with the travel. I always wonder what must happen to T1's in China. Whenever we travel over there, I'm always super careful and take everything I might need times 2 for the entire trip. That works fine for a month at a time, but if you were to move over there full time it would be different.
I'm glad that you take time to volunteer. Just like with education, you can never know how tremendous of a positive impact your actions can have on others.
haha really? i LOVE rotc. it's the closest thing i have to being in the "actual" military. im senior chief here in lemoore :DD
Yeah. I go to Dr.Simon in Fresno. She's my endo && also diabetic. Shes one of the best drs you can go to :D
but the problem is i have PE for 45 minutes everyday next week and i don't go to her untill friday of next week. Sooo yeahhh. i have no idea what i should do for pe next week.
Haha i have never lived in washington actually.
Liv used to live here. And I just happened to transfer to the school she went to in the 8th grade ... and WHAM lol were like sisters. She has been through everything with me and i have no idea what i would have done if she weren't here.
I used to play basketball and Volleyball also.
But i found that when i got into high school i was bored of it. I took time away from sports for a long while and started to swim again in the middle of freshman year. So i was still on shots. My practice is about three to four hours long so i would eat carbs and take the right amount of isulin then get in the pool. If i was starting to feel a little bad i would get out and check my blood. but if i didn't feel anything i would stay in the whole practice. Sometimes my BG would shoot up and sometimes it would stay normal. So i never really got it under control. This year though im on the pump for swimming season. Which makes me nervous for the upcoming weeks. But im sure ill figure it out. I was also on a NJROTC UnArmed Drill Team. When i would go to competitions for that (honestly this isn't good but...) i would kinda neglect my diabetes. Needless to say Liv would usually text me and make sure i was doing what i was supposed to. The excitement would make my bg go up. So yeahh lol
Hello :D
Just thought i would introduce myself.
Im Maddy :D
Well obviously xD
But Liv said she knows you :DD
Were like sisters!!
She said that you were really cool so i thought i would ask to be friends here on tuD :D
hope things are good up there :DD
Thank you for the friend request. I was just getting absorbed in a rather depressing topic on A1Cs so I needed a smile! And definitely a subject change!
Hi Toni! Thank you for your greeting and for the heads up on the NW group. I joined ittoday! I DID choose a pump color and I also chose the Animas OneTouch Ping in Pink! I've always had a black pump too. I wanted something fun. If it chips, well, so be it. It's also just a little bit bigger than my last Animas pump & the One Touch meter seems humongous compared to my Freestyle Lite! But - the technology is worth it! How long have you been a member of TU? I am SO happy I found this group! I was just telling my husband how cool it is to see the faces of people who seem just like me here. There are so many people to meet and share with and so many topics to get lost in here it's almost overwhelming!
No, he got out a few years ago, before I became diabetic. I actually missed the insurance when I first got diagnosed, but I guess it wasn't as great as I thought it would be :)
Hi! We lived on Whidbey for about 2 years, my husband was stationed there. We're in Everett now, just north of Seattle. I'm glad to have the opportunity to talk to local diabetics :)
