Doris did you check your email this morning? let me know what your schedule is today, and I will try to fix everything for you when you are offline with your computer turned off. I don't want to keep you from your appointed rounds here, haha, and we're going to the grocery store this morning as soon as I get this horrible infusion set changed. gosh it hurts.
Hi,sorry it took a while to get back to you. Plus I am SO brand new with this kind of webpage and I'm not too familiar with how to move around here, yet. Anyway, regarding my daughter's age. She had turned 9 on Nov.4,2011, 9 days later we were at CHOP(Children's Hospital of Philadelphia) and on 11/13 she was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes. There is absolutely no family history on my side or my husbands either. Which makes me constantly ask myself, why. As you already know very well,it's horrible to have this at any age let alone while you are just a wee child. I truly hope to learn all I possibly can from anyone that wants to share their knowledge. I'm still at that stage of questioning every single little thing regarding the diabetes. The hospital told me and my husband that it just takes time. In a year from now we'll just be able to look at a plate of food and know the carbs without having to look EVERY single thing up. Hah,I cannot even begin to believe that one! She is on Novolog bolus for her meals and Lantus at night. They also told us that she is a wee bit insulin resistant, but apparently that too shall pass. Well I don't want take up all your time. Thank you again for welcoming me into this family. I am looking forward to learning my way around here and learning all I can about diabetes too. Have a good night : )
hi, just sent you a pm. it's about the coldest day here since last year. the guy came out to fix the pellet stove (lucky just a clog, anywaY costs 165) so we got that going. bgnow 96, gosh this infusion set hurts - just put it in yesterday afternoon. want to rip it out!
Hey Doris! That is wonderful , and good luck on starting classes.. you can do it!! How is the weather your direction? We havent gotten any snow... not too surprized since i do live in Texas but it has gotten pretty cold. How have your bsugars been running? it is always kinda hard around the holidays to keep them perfect. (ok so i dont think mine are ever perfect lol ) Hope that your week is going good. Talk to you soon, KYNDAL
now doris, I'm going to insert a screen shot of my computer screen here. do you see the little speaker next to the time (3:18) in the lower right corner?
hey Doris, the earphones are in the mail!!! I also included a couple of pages from a Windows XP book I have about how to adjust the volume. It is super easy if you can see the tiny speaker on your taskbar. otherwise, it's pretty easy, you just have to go in to the Control Panel. I KNOW you can do this, so no excuses! the odds are good someone turned your volume way down or even MUTE so you wouldn't have to listen to garbage from the blown speakers. so you're going to have to turn it up when you get the earphones.
Good Morning Doris. 30 degrees BRRRR. Going to be 22 tonight. Tom covered my plants and I will leave them covered as tonight it will be 22. I am feeling better. I have a pain in my back. I think it is from all the couging. BG 137 from all the stuff I am taking. TOPS tomorrow and an auction. I have a bin full of stuff. One of the ladies will have to help me unload. I hope you are doing ok and keeping nice and warm. Take care. HUGS,Reed
Hello Doris. You will not believe this. I woke up with a head cold using boxes of Kleenex. This bug just does not want to leave me. Tom just left. Been here 10 days. He weeded my front back and side yards. Before he left he covered my plants as it is supposed to go to freezing tonight. This damned flu has knocked the stuffing out of me. I suppose as I am older it is harder to shake. No dctor appointments this week. My cold and medications have raised my BG to 141. I hope you are doing well. Have a good evening. HUGS,Reed
I remember that. once we stayed at a really fancy hotel in NYC & I got bit by BEDBUGS! now we wash everything in our suitcase when we come home, just in case we have stowaways. so I've addressed your envelope, you want me to send you anything else in it? bgnow 128
Doris, please look at the taskbar (bottom of your screen) and tell me if you see a tiny speaker in the right corner (mine's just to the left of the time). I suspect if your speakers have indeed blown, then someone has turned the volume completely down so you won't hear crackling noises from them. you will need to turn the volume up when you get the earphones. if you have the little speaker there on your taskbar it's easy to do. otherwise we have to go into the control panel. (not hard, but a couple of steps)
I can only dream to be a size 2 again LOL! Maybe when I was a teenager ha! The lowest weight I had was at 100 lbs (maybe lower) that was 2008 when I had the accident and was not able to walk for almost a year...man, that was so depressing! I love all my weight now LOL Im healthy and can do everything! I think you look wonderful Doris!
Hi Doris, I wanted to introduce myself because I have just relocated to TN from Manhattan to continue work on my graduate/doctorate degree. I am a pediatric nurse and helping children and families with diabetes is my passion. I have had type 1 diabetes since the age of 18 months, (24 years) and have worn an insulin pump for sixteen. My schedule is very flexible and I have many "free" days this semester. I know how hard it was for my parents to find babysitters/caregivers for my when I was younger- particularly consistenly, overnight, or at the last minute. I just wanted to let you know that if there was/is anything I can help you with I am more than happy to because not only do I truly enjoy working with kids and families with diabetes, but I really like to give back because I am thankful for all of the people who were willing to take care of me when I was younger.
I hope you had a great holiday season and that whether you need help or not we can "talk" soon- my email is Caitlin.L.McEnery@vanderbilt.edu.
Best,
Caitlin
