How did your paper turn out? If I had been looking around more I would have answered your questions. Sorry about that.

If you would like to answer the questions below. I am doing a research paper on diabetes but I am having a very hard time getting people around me to talk about it. This is for an English 100 class at WKU so I need your permission to use your words. If you would like to participate but don't want the world to see, please email your answers to adawnmorgan@gmail.com

hey, Amanda. I agree with you that Diabetes stinks but it is part of your life now and you need to take care of yourself so that you can take care of your boys! This is what I tell myself everyday when I get frustrated injecting myself: "I have family that loves me very much and if I give up, I will be giving up on them". Plus, I have figured out that all my actions can affect my life so I need to try my best to really take care of my T1.

Hi Amanda,

Working at night does complicate things. Changes in eating and sleeping patterns will upset your internal clock. At least initially this will likely cause problems with your blood sugars. I advise that you continue to take your meds the same way as you do now, at mealtime, and see what happens. Take your Byetta 1 hour before eating and metformin with food to avoid stomach distress. If your Lexipro causes drowziness, take it before you sleep. In a few weeks most people make the adjustment and you should see your blood sugars stabilize. If they don't, call to your endocrinologist or regular physician. Let me know how it goes.

You're welcome Amanda. I'm glad you took action. :-)
You sound like you have everything planned out, that's great!
I also joined a diabetic support group, headed by one of the diabetes dietitians, but I had to stop going due to my mum having and operation and having to stay with her constantly for 4 months but I'm planning to return to it beginning of February. It's held once a week here and the few times I had attended I felt pretty good, It makes you realize you're not going through all this alone and everyone is supportive and full of advice.
I'm also going to restart the water exercises that I had to stop for the same reason. At the moment I can't do any other exercises or walk and I found the water exercises easy to do and it made me feel really good and pleased with myself at the end of each session.
Take care Amanda,
Loren
