Caleb describes how the taste of toothpaste sometimes makes him feel low.

There are times when Caleb has a low before going to bed. He eats something to treat it and then has to brush his teeth. He is brushing his teeth while still feeling low.

As a result, there are times when Caleb brushes his teeth and the taste of the toothpaste reminds him of the other times when he was low. He associates that taste with the feeling of low even when his blood sugars are in range.

It's like the bells and Pavlov's dogs.

Thanks everybody for your support and kind words. It provides a great deal of comfort to me and Caleb. It's fun making videos with him, and he's not too shy, and gets a kick out of it too.

I often wonder, if something like the taste of toothpaste falsely gives him the impression that his blood sugar is low, will he grow up to dislike the things he eats to treat lows because he will get the same feeling? Danny has rung in on this issue and said probably not. I'm wondering what other people find.

Is there 6 star rating? This kid looks strikingly similar to my profile pic, very handsome and articulate young man I must say. He really hit the nail on the head connecting his sense of taste to his feelings of a low. Best MSOD vid so far!
