Well, I guess I am a newbie. Actually I was diagnosed with Peripheral Neuropathy in 1996 and then the diagnosis for diabetes came in 2002. No one on my Mother's side or my dad's side had diabetes.THEN, to top it all off, my husband was diagnosed with diabetes in 2004. His family is filled with diabetics.

Manny, thanks for being in the right place on line for me today. Looking forward to getting to know more diabetics.

That was awesome! You should be so very proud of yourself Manny. Thanks for for finding a place for us all to share hopes and fears with others as well as be a support to others who might be in need.

You hit all the right notes—how diabetes can overwhelm and make a person feel isolated, how it's important to have family support, how diabetes is a one-day-at-a-time disease, and how no matter what you do, you're going to have good days and bad days. (You even made Regis Philbin look smart!) Listening to you and to the other members of tudiabetes made me think: "I wonder how differently I might have handled my diabetes if I'd had tudiabetes when I was diagnosed with type 1 in 1969? No doubt, the emotional toll would have been lightened. Just want you to know that I took a photo of my hand about two months ago but then felt embarrassed about submitting it to you. (Silly, huh?) Expect me to post the photo this week.....Best wishes, Manny, to you, your gorgeous wife and that adorable Santiago for health, happiness and continued success in 2009! Fran Carpentier

I like the thought you describe Anna: all of us sat together on a comfy couch to watch it together!

Thanks for your support, everyone!

That was excellent. We don't have Hallmark channel here in Canada - but being able to view it with everyone here onTudiabetes (sort of like we're all sitting on a comfy couch) - was perfect. It is so great that there is this website and others out in cyberland that can help connect diabetics together!! I'm glad and proud that I'm part of this community Manny!
