TuDiabetes

We received this VERY important message to spread the word about the importance of knowing your A1C.

This campaign represents the first ever national public education campaign supported by a coalition of leading nonprofit diabetes organizations, including the ADA, JDRF, American Association of Diabetes Educators and the National Council of La Raza. Check out the new campaign site at: http://www.DiabetesA1C.org.

Please help pass this information around. Just copy the EMBED code on this page and paste it on your blog.

That site (http://www.DiabetesA1C.org.) is totally unusable its a mess of flash and tries to be clever instead it makes any information it holds inaccessible.

Knowing your A1c is important.

Knowing that for Type 2s, an A1c of 7% is high enough to cause blindness is a significant number of people is even more important. Yes, it reduces retinopathy, but it doesn't by any means eliminate it, and people with 7% A1cs almost ALL develop significant neuropathy (nerve pain leading to amputation.)

The 7% A1c is MUCH TOO HIGH for people with Type 2 diabetes. A safe A1c is most likely in the 5% range. The American Association of Clinical Endocrinologists recommends 6.5%, but the lower, the better.

Our goal by Sept. 14
