Low blood sugars drive me crazy! But I've tried to spot unique signs and symptoms during different activities so I can catch those lows coming from a mile away!

Definitely don't STOP being active! It makes a HUGE difference in terms of insulin sensitivty...BUT it does take a little while to figure out how to balance your BG around different types of exercise.

Ruth, don't stop working out! Even though I haven't lost but 12 pounds (need to lose 30 more), I've gone down a size because of at least a 3X/week, 1 hour, exercise, plus it makes me feel better and am more able to "flat line" my glucose. When you workout is important. Morning is best for me so I don't bolus for breakfast for the whole amount that my meter wizard says. If I feel low on the cardio portion, I'll suspend the pump for about 30+ minutes. Do you use those Glucose Tablets? Keep 3-4 or a small bottle on the pulpit to chew during the hymns!!! Remember, keep exercising; just figure out what time of day is the best and tweak your basal & bolus for it. Much luck to you!

The lowest I have been so far is 50. I went in way too high when I was diagnosed, so I am still learning, 5 months now....I still get conflicting symptoms so I guess I need to keep tracking it.

After 37 years, I thank goodness I still have low blood sugar awareness. However, sometimes by the time I catch it on my own, it's REALLY low. So, I got a CGM. I got it because every time I exercised, my sugars would drop about 60-80 points in the first 20 minutes, causing me to just give up. When I have lows, I feel irritable and very hungry. Hungry enough to eat the contents of an entire fridge. Not good for weight loss. I am still having trouble working out how to adjust my pump when I exercise. It has given me a serious phobia about being really active. If I could change one thing, it would be to figure this out so I could get more active.

I sometimes confuse low sugar and anxiety. The most embarrassing low I had was when I was leading my congregation in religious services. I had to leave the sanctuary, eat something, and come back. My song leader took over, and though most of the congregants know I am diabetic it still was a serious pain in the you-know-what.

Wow -- thanks for sharing that much detail about it. I've never experienced the blobs in the eyes. Glad you survived that low-while-driving incident!

I most often get these bright white blobs in the back of my eyes when my sugar is low (really low by this time, 30s, 40s. I'll close my eyes when I'm into my treadmill workout to see if they're there, stop, drink half a Glucerna Shake, sit awhile, then go do some weight machines...or just get in the car and drive home, knowing I'm getting back to 70s. I'll test when I get home and more often, it's time for lunch. Those bright eye-blobs save my life more often than not. The first time I went really low (probably in the 20s) I was driving and thought I was having a stroke...pulled into a store parking lot and consumed my Glucose tabs (more than 3 this time). It's even scarier at night, but I now keep a RED CAN of regular coke by my bed and know enough to open that RED CAN. (I've been a T1 diabetic for 38 years!)
