Our doctor has refer my wife type 1 diabetes to the diabetes clinic for help in lower her sugar highs. Has any one been to a diabetes nurse who helps to lower ones high blood sugar? My wife used to do this herself but for the past few years I have been her main caretaker because she forgets to do this and that.I am also a diabetes type 2 and I have been taking oral med s since 1992 my sugars will go up and down sometimes but nothing like my wife blood sugars they (the doctors) want my wife to stay between90 and 110 well I know that that is okay for a normal person but not for a diabetes. Her blood sugar is in the morning 220 to 240 I know that is not good but she is not a normal person. I used to ask her if she took her reading and she would say she did. So now I just check the blood meter just to be sure she is telling me the truth! The doctors know that she has dementia I use Novolog insulin 26 units three time a day and 35 units of Lantus at bedtime. So I am not just take care of her but myself to. My wife is 69 and I am going to be 72 in april ,thanks for letting me vent and I am glad to have found this place,
