Heading to Alaska tonight and looking for company for a day or two over the next week while in Anchorage for a run or bike ride. Really hoping to find any diabetics out there who like to keep active. Not a fan of running or biking by myself. I've never had a problem with low sugars, but I'm an over-planner. Like to make sure I'm covered, preferably by someone who knows about my T1D and what to do if I act funny.

Nope! I far away from you here in south texas! I hope you have fun and stay safe. Hows the weather up there?
Sounds great Mike... you'll love AK. Hope you like hills! My hubby has a cousin in Anchorage whom we only met a couple years ago when we (finally) went through AK and the Yukon. I'd be happy to contact her for you, if you find yourself in a pickle, but she is also a busy career girl so I'm not sure what she would be up to. I could email her too but again... she doesn't know us very well, so I don't know what she knows about diabetes. If you find someone more aware, that might be better for you, but I checked and she still lives in Anchorage, not far from downtown ... and she's family. She would help out if we asked.
Sup to you. Lemme know. Her name is Erin, she's forty-ish and, last I heard, she's single! She works full time and I'm not sure if she is in to long walks or bike rides, but who could live in AK and NOT love nature time? The place is freakin gorgeous. I posted a couple pictures on my page if you would like to see'um. We loved Denali NP best but it's a day's train ride from ANC. We had the opportunity to fly above the mountain range and see Mt. McKinley up close! Pack more than one camera in case one breaks! The weather should be good at this time too. Remember the south end is kind of 'tropical' (read rainy) in the summer. But if you were expecting all sun 'n sand, you'd be heading the other direction, right?
Weather is nice. High 60's. Not sure what the sun looks like because I've been stuck inside working for the last two days. Thanks for the replies, I will probably try to hook up with a bike shop, although most of them are on "Tourism" mode and only run "bike tours".
